I often see Aguero and Silva having long conversations in English with fellow players and refs. They just don't feel comfortable doing interviews in English.

It's a good point - they would have to be able to converse with the refs and other staff (doctors?), and I doubt Walker's Spanish is up to much, but I'm sure I've seen Guardiola say "English club, we speak English" (or words to that effect)

Silva has been captain quite a bit over the years, with Vinny being in and out of the team, you often see him in long animated conversations with referees and they'll not be in Esperanto.

Aguero understands English pretty well, you can tell that from the questions that are fired at him, he understands what's being said, he just seems to lack the confidence and vocabulary to confidently reply. I've seen Silva do interviews in English and he's pretty good, I suspect Silva is reluctant to face the camera not because of his English but because essentially he seems a very private person.

There was a full 8 part documentary showing all team meetings & trainings being conducted in English.

I think that's probably fair; I think he just doesn't like it much - Sane, Gundogan, Bernardo, Laporte (I think), de Bruyne, all do it better and are happy to do so. They're all early/mid career, so it probably suits them too. I think Silva speaks English with quite a strong accent which doesn't help (compare with Bernardo).

I can imagine where Aguero is at - I can understand German okay, and French slightly less well, but often have to run it through my head again before working out what is meant; my spoken German/French isn't very good at all!

I’ve noticed that both Sergio's and Merlin's English is much improved over the last couple of years and Gabriel’s is fantastic now, considering that the lad could hardly speak a word of English when he arrived here.

I strongly suspect both Silva and Aguero have had a capable knowledge of English for quite a while, and that any interviews conducted have been on the basis of getting their views across in their native language, rather than it be 'misunderstood'.
Noticeable recently on Sky or BBC programmes that both Sanchez and De Gea features were conducted in Spanish. Did the TS presenters mention that?
