Talksport

Misunderstanding here, I think.

Initial fee was 45M pounds.
Exchange rate on 24/7/2015 about 1.41. £45M therefore was €63.5M (at that rate). (near enough €63.7M)

Exchange rate now is 1.11 (average bank exchange). €63.5M now is £57M.

Allowing for them using slightly different rates, the two figures states are (1)euros at time of purchase and (2)current sterling value of those euros.
The website is dynamic for costs, so the 57M will change as time goes on (the €63.5M won't).
Ah I see it now thanks, well makes mathematical sense as a reason for their discrepancy but why on earth would they not use the exchange rate at the time of sale?

Even if they are working off the logic that we are paying in instalments, their figures would still always be incorrect, thus it's a pointless exercise constantly adjusting them. If they were trying to be more accurate, it's probably doing the opposite, as the exchange rates will be different every year and I doubt they would know, how much we are paying and when for each instalment.

No wonder Talksport are giving out incorrect figures. They need to stop faffing about, as it makes them kind of unusable as a reference point. Regardless, it was £49m with bonuses, even Talksport should have known that.

Yeah, it is a bit confusing, but it has a German base, so the euro figure appears to be dominant (and more people will use euros than pounds anyway). It could even be as simple as them only having to put in one cost value, and then all the others calculate themselves (I'm assuming they've linked it to an exchange rate feed). Whatever the reason, it appears (to me) to be a deliberate decision on how to set it up. I'm pretty certain instalments are ignored and it's just booked as a single figure.

TS aren't the only ones who swipe from transfermarkt. It's happened a few times in the last year or so; I'm sure some of those doing so are smart enough to know what they're doing. You'd think a reputable UK media outlet would use a British source with figures in one place, at least for transfers involving British clubs. TS should know, but don't care if it allows them to spin.

That's a point, they could be using a formula in their web code/tables, that uses current exchange rates. Lazy if true though, just get a UK bloke/woman to do the UK sites figures, I say.

Don’t know why we have a thread on this poor excuse for a radio show, it should be pulled like the Stan Who thread... Both equally loathsome...

The collymore thread has been pulled? I hope not, like to see him get a good slagging on here when I'm not reading this thread where talkshite gets a slagging.
