I recall twenty or so years ago a similar situation occurring in certain quarters with Rooney - certainly amongst the younger generation who wouldn't really grasp he came at a young age from Everton.

Sometimes the myths that are perpetuated from the media surrounding anything Manchester United related beggar beyond belief but I guess we are all used to that by now.
