In the transfer window, with Mancini stating he wants to sign Nasri & Aguerro; Inter making contact with Tevez whilst he's on holiday; Redknapp coming out and saying he wants everybody; Real apparently wanting Adebayor and Barca chasing Fabregas (again) - My question is.. what these days constitutes tapping up, and why don't the authorities seem to care?

the nasri thing was twisted cini was talking in general he stated nasri was under contract with arsenal that was blown out of proportion and he is tevez he seems to think he can do what he wants :)

Club A's official representatives speak directly to Club B's player/agent/representatives about a possible transfer or deal without the express permission of Club B.

Like Bayern did with Boateng?

The governing body won't take action till a club puts in a formal complaint, and non will do that as either they are over reacting, so can't or they actually want to sell and just use the press to publicise their anger, as a way of driving up the price of a player.

If they were really being tapped up, and the selling club didn't like it, I'm sure they would bang in a complaint, unless they themselves have something to hide.

There's nothing wrong with declaring your intrest in a player. As long as you don't try and distrub them at their club and cause trouble

Redknapp is the worlds worst for this...
He' did it to us numerous times in the space of a couple of years whilst he was at pompey...

*David James
*Andy Cole
*Eyal Berkovic
*Sylvain Distin

Fuck 'em anyway !

tapping up = kidnapping another clubs player at the airport and holding him hostage until midnight on transfer deadline day

Not arsed, goes on all the time, all clubs do it, but when it one of their players they moan like fuck. All part of the transfer season mindgames.

The back-handed tapping up of players by other players as Evra has been doing with Nasri makes me laugh. Very strange how telling a player to come to your club during internationals is not the same as a club official making an illegal approach.

didn't mind so much when Pablo had a word or two with Sergio though, did we? ;)

Mentioning another teams player in the press is not tapping up. The definition has become way off in the last few years.
