Tater ash

Done in the pressure cooker, served with lashings of crusty bread

I didnt think it was as nice when done in the pressure cooker but for convenience this was the method used once my mum got one.

Ot pot was something different, potato on top of a stew baked in the oven, rather than in it with a tater ash, different recipe and taste in our house.

yep agreed - Ot pot was kid of a Lancashire Hot Pot in our house but done with stewing beef. If funds allowed mam bought lamb and then we could have the official Lancashire Hot Pot. Funds seldom allowed to it was beef skirt, shin beef, fucking bulls aresholes for all we knew or cared - cook it for long enough it was marvellous

Cheap cuts in both was the way to go, not sure we ever had it with anything as exotic as lamb in ours. I took to putting a bit of garlic into mine, but was told I was deviating and it wasnt a proper tater ash anymore, something about too much time living down south it was put down to.

I have heard of dirty bastards putting sweatcorn in their ash.... dirty heaten bastards.
