Back in the day, you rang a taxi, 40 mins later you would ring back to be told he is on his way love, he's about 2 minutes away, another 10 mins later still no taxi, you ring back to be told he's at the top of your road love, no he's not love I am at the top of my road, it was an absolute farce
Total nightmare, I remember it well. If you rang back to check where it was the bloody phone was often engaged. You just stood by the window hoping the thing turned up.
Somebody I was mates with as a kid in Hulme, Dave Fletcher ,owned Luxicars in Wythenshawe. Him and his dad set it up.after being made redundant from the printers they both worked at. His mother manned the switch a lot of the time. It still didn't speed my taxi up though lol.
