Taxing the super rich

Total tax take does need to increase in the UK and the fairest way to do that is probably a tax on income. We're taxed less than the OECD average (as of 2016) and far less than almost all other Western European countries.

Not true. We're about half way.

On the 2016 graphic I've got, we're 21st out of the 35 OECD countries and the ones below us are almost all non-European and the ones above us are almost all European. There may be a 2017/2018 graphic but I can't be arsed looking for it.

Do you get what you pay for? (in other words are we also bottom half of the league in public services?)

Yes but when the super rich receive more income than the bottom 50%
Also if that tax was paid at the right rate and it would more than double

They earn more as its much harder to be a CEO or to become one than a Data-Entry Administrator.

The more I’ve progressed, the more stress I’ve had and the longer hours I’ve worked.

This idea that the super rich just sit counting their money whilst laughing is a ridiculous part of our society.

I’m left-leaning and fundamentally believe in a safety net for those worse off and a regulated private sector but still appreciate those in top positions mostly work incredibly hard for it, or have the gift of improving their businesses greatly.

So you're being highly selective. We are neither a high nor a low tax society. We're about in the middle.

Given that European societies are most similar to ours, both in terms of economy, trade, environmental and employment regulation, membership of the EU, energy import dependency then I would say I'm being selective for a very good reason. In European terms, the UK is a low tax society.
