Need to get into town sharpish after the match today. I'm told by a friend that taxis queue up at the South Stand but as I'll be in the North Stand and tend to head towards Ashton New Road I was just wondering if ther are usually any taxis on that side? I've never noticed before, probably because I've never needed to.

Theres not a taxi rank on Southstand what taxis do is come up the road from Bank of England and just get flagged down, easier walking back to town to be honest with all the road works for the trams/waterworks.

order one and leave a couple of minutes before the end it;s your only option, traffic, thousands coming out,,,you have to leave before the end believe me

Start walking to the city centre and you'll be able to flag a cab down - saves queuing at a rank and paying for a cab stuck in traffic.

The trouble with that is half the ground will also be leaving before the end aswell

The roads around COMs are shut about 10-15 minutes before the end of the game, depending on how many are leaving. Therefore you'd have to leave 20 minutes before the end of the game to ensure your taxi could get through, and even then, the taxi may not want to risk getting stuck.

There may be some taxi's already parked up, but again, match traffic and closed roads mean that you could get in one, and just get stuck.

Once the roads are opened, taxi's do come in and pull up outside the main reception to pick up people, but these aren't ordered, they just pull up. All local taxi companies won't take let you book a taxi to pick you up from COMs until about 90 minutes after the final whistle.

Best bet is to walk to town. It's 20 minutes, it's guaranteed as you don't get stuck in traffic or roadworks.

Leave a couple of minutes early and jump on the bus. Taxis go up and down the road waiting to be flagged down but someone always gets there before you.
