Heard a whisper via a mate that we've made a verbal offer to Tom Cleverley's agent after being impressed with his form for Aston Villa over the second half of the season. Arsenal and Spurs are said to be sniffing around, too, as well as a few clubs lower down the table. Now...I know the reaction from 99% of fans won't be very positive, but it'd free up money for elsewhere, he wouldn't command a huge salary and perhaps most importantly would help towards the homegrown quota.

Obviously the usual caveats about it possibly being bollocks apply, and apologies in advance for not having twenty thousand posts, just passing a rumour from a fellow Blue on in good faith.

I want to know who the 1% who would see it as a positive are? That's a high percentage of lunatics amongst us!?!!

Although not particularly good, he will be free agent in the summer and, of course, he is home grown. I am in no way suggesting we sign him but I could see him at somewhere like Liverpool or Tottenham.
