I agree apart from Richards. The guy is just not doing it and seems to believe all the hype from last season. Give Onuha a chance. What about Weiss for left side? He cant do any worse than Vassell.

Assume you're Phil Brown and Old Cod Face Rollthedice: what is your point of attack? As soon as you've answered that, you'll know why you CANNOT play either of those formations and hope to win. Can Hughes see it? So far he hasn't.

My plan of attack to beat City would be to simply attack the left side of City's team (also, harass Dunne until he fucks up and tempt Hart out for crosses until he fucks up and then is too scared to come out for later crosses.). Doesn't matter what formation it is.... we just have a bunch of shit left sided players - especially in defense.

How about using Zab as defensive midfielder (he's played there before):

I think Richards needs to taken out of the important position of C/H he's making to many costly mistakes.
Give him a licence to bomb forward and support SWP on the right. Kompany looks the best C/H we've got whenever he plays that position. Get the only two left footed players we have on the left. Ireland in the middle where he's been awesome. Give a free role to Robinho, and ask whoever plays upfront to run his balls off.
