Technical ability of the squad isn't good enough.

You think we have a choice of power vs technique? Ask Yaya Toure or Erling Haaland what they think of that theory.

Very rare you get both to a world class level though and I would argue both are good/very good technicians with world class physicality. Yaya at his peak maybe. Rodri is the best example of both in recent seasons.

Aguero or David Silva or Bernardo or De Bruyne are world class technicians with good/very good physicality.

You can have 1 or 2 of the former but the latter style is way more important for a world class team.

PSG won everything last year with world class technicians with good/very good physicality.

This for me.

If we’d signed Rice instead of Arsenal getting him we’d be sat top of the table now and would probably have won the title last season.
It's another argument that we're not aggressive enough in the market to bring these players in.

Rice is technically better than most midfielders too though, he go in the Yaya category of good/very good technician with world class physicality. They're the players you surround with technically excellent players.

Rodri won the Balon d'Or because he's world class at both.

He means he's a player that needs space to run into, plays better in a low block team as opposed to breaking a low block down.
Like the space Savinho had but he fell on his arse

This low block stuff has been used v us for years but never bothered the likes of Sane or Sterling but we are where we are

Very apparent 2nd half, no composure.

Actually when Cherki came on, that was the one time it felt like a player had control of the ball.

Nobody was showing for the ball today though and it's because they don't trust themselves to get it under and do something with it. Getting ridiculous.

No composure and lacking leadership. The basics of it is that we don't have the same number of quality players we've had in our recent past. Squad not good enough in a nutshell.

Leeds made the fatal mistake of reverting back to a mindset of a draw will be great when the game was very much there to be won. They still caused us problems after we scored the winner.

At 2-2 against a good side today, I think we would have lost.

For me, the biggest issue in our build up without Rodri is the lack of that switch of play in behind wide left or wide right. Rodri is excellent at providing that outlet when the ball is wide left and then pinging it to a runner wide right, which keeps the pitch spread and is more incisive.

Nico has been very solid but his passing is more often than not a safe sideways or forwards. He runs with the ball well, but we don't get the ball wide quickly enough to isolate the opposition.

Gvardiol did it in the first minute and we managed to create the overload and get in behind. Once it went to 2-2 we had no control and our game plan seemed to be relying on a moment of magic. All it took for the winner was Nunes to pass to Cherki and run in behind to take a player with him, leaving Foden with space.

That's a game a couple of years ago we win 5-0.

Marmoush has been squeezed out of the starting line-up due to Haaland and Doku's form. If anything, Marmoush would be a forward who you would look to to break down a low block because of his good technique.
