Teenagers

I know and understand there are exceptions, but from what I've seen of MOST girls between about 14 and 18 they can be quite a handful (no not that), any parents have my sympathy.

I have three lads, 31, 29 and 28, the eldest was a right **** between 13-20, the other two were OK. However, he has changed completely and is now a credit, helpful, thoughtful, a complete turnaround.

One of the main issues was the state of his bedroom, but from what I've seen that's par for the course.....even worse when they go to uni....lol!

Finding it bloody hard coping with my 14 year old. Gone from being my best mate to a complete pain in the arse in about six weeks. She just wants to be out with her mates and grumpy most of the time and just seems to want a new pair of trainers every month and I am the worst dad in the world when I say no.

What age do they get half pleasant again for those that have been through this?

Yep, my daughter is 13 and I am seeing the same. Wants to be out with her mates, in her bedroom the rest of the time. Been a power struggle going on between her and the missus for a year or two now, though the missus is a bit one dimensional and doesn't really help matters. Proper looking forward to the next 5 or 6 years of this.

I grew up with three sisters and it has helped me with my daughter. There's no way on earth that they will tidy their rooms on their own accord - I just tell her she has to keep the mess in her room and the door shut. When she needs extra money for something, I tell her to tidy her room and she does. How it becomes a tip again in 24hrs is anyone's guess but at least this way there's nothing lingering long term.

Mrs E has no idea how to handle it.

If it's any consolation ww I was only about 44 when I started to come out of my teenage strop.

On match days I'm not even too sure I have.

Best of luck to you

I have a 15 year old girl who is a dream . The 13 year old lad makes up for it though

Punishment these days for either is no wifi/phones/devices. How times have changed

I was having this discussion with a colleague this week. In my day the punishment was a grounding - the only way to keep me from my friends. By taking my children's phones and tablets away I'm cutting off their lines of communication too. But I'm damn sure that I was nowhere near as cheeky to my mum and dad as mine are to me.

She wants to be out with her mates rather than being sat next to her dad while he's posting on Bluemoon?? She's going to he'll.
