There's a 100% legit online course which you can smash through in a few days and give you the required certification needed.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.i-to-i.com/tefl-courses/online-tefl-course-40.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.i-to-i.com/tefl-courses/onli ... se-40.html</a>

It says 40 hours but the way it's set up means you should be able to do it in 20 hours.

That's the one I used and it's been pretty good.

I'm not a certificate holder mate but I've had friends that have taught english over the world and unequivocally they tell me a TEFL isn't worth the paper it's written on. The course Iv'e been strongly advised to do is the CELTA. It seems to be well regarded so keep your options open and check it out.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams-and-qualifications/celta/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams-a ... ons/celta/</a>

This just isn't true mate. I spent 2 years teaching in China and to get a visa you have to provide a TEFL certificate, they say nothing about CELTA. This is the case for basically every country, i had friends teaching in South Korea, Japan, Russia etc and all had TEFL certificates. CELTA only qualifies you to teach adults whereas TEFL is a more general qualification so allows you to teach adults and children.

I did mine with the TEFL Academy <a class="postlink" href="http://www.theteflacademy.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.theteflacademy.co.uk</a> and found work while still completing the course, I kept in touch with some of the people on the course and they didn't have any problems finding work either. I work in sales now, but I got a job in London teaching English in a private language school just with the TEFL.

I think its just people who have blown a grand on a CELTA and just cant admit they could of done it for a tenth of of price, as literally THOUSANDS do! People always think they did it the right way. Reminds me of when the missus wanted to learn to drive in an automatic and EVERY manual driver tried to put her off the idea, after 40 hours of failed lessons she finally went for auto and passed within 10, everyone thinks the way they do it is the right way...
