television dates

Yeah, but it being Friday, lets move kick off time back to 8.10 or similar, to give a bit more travel time. Will esp suit teams who have a large % of their support from local area, but if it replaces Monday it has to be a winner. And no problems for those who take kids on a Friday eve

10pm Friday kick offs would be brilliant

yes it does, and has done so from the year dot. as with others we are 4th and 5th generation blues, its ALL about parents and kids. sky BT or whoever can pay what they like if it wasn't for match going families football would be no specticle and hence not worth broadcasting.
as for friday football its a disgrace. no bother to me, i live 10 mins from the stadium, i can even take the day off for aways but for some people it completely rules them out attending, home or away. the clubs should be careful what they wish for, they have let the devil in to thier home.
Brilliant point
Makes me laugh that you have fans, the FA and TV companies bemoaning the atmosphere in stadiums and the lack of away fans, whilst putting obstacles in their path for actually getting to a game.
Late kicks offs automatically make you think "how am I going to get home?"
Changing fixtures for TV just a few weeks in advance see travel costs escalate.

At the moment you can buy train travel up to 20th September, but do we do not know when the games are going to be played? That's Tottenham and Palace away we could be buying now, cheap, but we'll have to wait and see where Sly and BT put the games before making bookings, while the cost goes up.

I'm going for it being Monday night!
I'd be surprised (and pissed off, as I have to be in Exeter at 9am on Tuesday for a course), looking at the other games that weekend, its the only stand out fixture, and its rare that they don't get the 4pm Sunday slot.

There are four stand out candidates for the Monday night game ie long distances for the away fan, Southampton v Everton, Sunderland v Norwich, Swansea v Newcastle, and Liverpool v Bournemouth, one of them will the early Sunday game (Swansea probably), as public transport is nigh on impossible. Villa v united, and Palace v Arsenal will be the other weekend games imo.

As someone who likes going to away games I wish they were all 3pm Saturday, makes it much easier to plan.
It's alright for those wanting wall to wall football all weekend but, personally I don't watch it these days.
Talking to a mate about the game yesterday, and we both said 4pm Sunday is the obvious choice, hence we both thought it would be Monday

I had to make a decision last night at work, so I'm hoping its Sunday now, but I think it will, just because of the other very long distance games involved, which are usually the TV games picked for Monday nights. CL and EL play off games start that week as well, so united will probably be a Saturday game, and the Sunday round of EL won't start until the following weekend.

Being totally selfish, not like me I know, it makes absolutely no odds to me as I can take from Saturday to Wednesday off!

I've got a feeling that we'll either be the early game on the Saturday against WBA or the Monday night game. The Champions always start on a Sunday (well atleast that has happened both times we've won it) and I think they'll have the scum vs Spurs as a Super Sunday. I can see Arsenal being the late game on the Saturday leaving us and the Dippers to take the early game or Monday.

Don't think its a practical enough idea. Attendances will obviously drop for both sets of fans due to work commitments, traffic, families etc, i mean...imagine if we played friday night at somewhere like soton away, how many would go seriously?

But on the other people, alot more people these days work weekends with days off during the week in no way a rarity, so in that respect, i suppose friday evening games for some supporters wouldn't be TOO bad if they're willing to commit to it.

said it in another thread....it always makes me pmsl at the reaction round ere when sky announce their fixtures.....every game had 3pm ko's next to them when they were announced last wednesday....did you really think it was gonna stay that way?

JEEZ. Of course not but it's a piss take it takes them so long to decide/announce them. If it takes this long they should announce all TV games until new year and then immediately start to work on TV fixtures up to April.
The last few rounds I get that they "need" to wait to see who is battling for what

The Man City vs Chelsea will be 4 o clock on Sunday .
Not so sure about the West Brom away i reckon that could Saturday 5.30 pm or Monday 8 pm .

well the season starts in 7 weeks so I would of thought it will be next week which then give the clubs more time to get tickets printed right
