Terrible support (Sunderland view)

The fact that the team played like a useless bunch of one legged arseholes in the first half may have explained the poor atmosphere. I felt depressed watching on the box. Hardly surprising that the supporters who made the long trip didn't feel like singing much. They probably thought "all that way for this performance??"

All the more reason to enjoy yourself and get the atmosphere going.

Fans should be helping spur the players on, not the other way round imo.

I Dont disagree with them im afraid, Atmosphere was poor. When Bluemoon was sung, yes it was sung v.loudly but that was about it really
I was very disappointed with your vocal support yesterday. I was looking forward to some good banter and atmosphere from your lot but it never materialised. The couple of times that Blue Moon was sung it was met with sarcastic applause from the south west corner. Most of your lot spent the game gesturing at the SWC when we were singing. Our home atmosphere has been a bit flat lately for obvious reasons. But the last two games our support for the lads has been excellant. Considering you had about 2000 there yesterday it was in truth pretty dire. Stoke had about 400 at our place and made one hell of a racket.

The fans did their bit second half.First half was the poorest it has been this season.
Sunderland fans have a cheek slagging anyone. They left in droves when we equalised.

If anyone knows or hears anything about the Wigan Blues MCFC St.Georges flag going missing in the ground, it would be greatly appreciated lads and lassies. The owner of said flag absolutely gutted, and if we can find it and return it to him, that would make his day.

cheers in advance.

I would put it on a new post mate so everyone see's your request.

Have to agree with the Sunderland fans our support was sh*te yesterday.

Sunderland fans drowned us out and we didn't even put up a fight. Can't understand why our fans don't seem to be bothered supporting the team.

I was impressed with their support and guess what their very average team responded.

Don't buy into this 'the players need to put in a shift', 'the players didn't lift us with their performance' blah blah it's b*llox and piss poor. You're a 'supporter' that means you get behind your team come what may. As far as I'm concerned our team is not just judged on the pitch but off it as well and at the moment we the fans are letting the team down.

I was frankly embarrassed that chasing a top 4 slot that we couldn't sell out and those that did turn up (credit for that at least) couldn't be bothered to support the team.

There just doesn't seem any passion or desire from the fans I looked round yesterday and the apathy and lack of desire from the fans was just embarrassing. Every single fan from now until the end of the season needs to make a concerted effort to get behind the players and 'do their bit' if you don't then its a bit rich to criticise the players if they don't put a shift in.

Expectations has ruined our away support this year.

I always laugh when shit or small clubs go overboard about their support. It seems if you are shit or cannot compete with the top clubs then the only ammo you have is how loud your support is when in reality everyone is as average or as loud as each other.

Sunderland and Stoke being prme examples of overstating their support who both came to Eastlands within a week of each other and were as bad or as good as us at Sunderland yesterday. We were guilty of doing it aswell when we were shit.

Probably because you reduced our allocation you stupid fake geordies.
We never reduced any allocation. You apparently sent 700 of your 2700 tickets back. 2700 is the lower allocation. Sell them and you can request a further allocation like Arsenal got this season. As for the fake Geordie comment you're making yourself look like a post Euro 96 fan saying that. Being a Geordie does not equate to being a Newc666le fan you doughnut. If you knew anything about football support you would know a lot of Sunderland fans are in fact Geordies including myself. But hey why let facts get in the way of an uneducated dig.

Seconded.

The reduced allocation made no difference because we didn't sell out the tickets we were given at under £30 per ticket. The rain wasn't the issue. That didn't start until midway through the game. The first half performance may not have been inspiring but do we have to wait for Tevez to bag a couple before we're prepared to sing?

I thought the Mackems were good fans, very friendly with us when we went for a few beers in the Victory Club near the ground and vocal support inside it. Ours was non-existent, very similar to the Hull game. Don't know what has happened to our support.

Yeah. Afterall, thats why they pay our wages!

Oh, wait...

So you refuse to "support" the team unless they give you something to actually shout about? Doesn't that find of defeat the whole point of having supporters?

All i'm saying is, if the teams playing shit, the weathers shit and you're in a shit town... have some fun, enjoy yourself... if you want to sit in silence until we're winning thats up to you, personally i follow City because i love the club and i enjoy following them, i want to have fun when im at the game.

I'm not digging anyone, more the mentality of "i must be entertained or wowed before i'll support my team vocally."

erm can i feel a tad bit of jelousy coming from these sunderland suporters? dropped 2 points in the last minutes of the game so they are crying about it.

just concentrate on filling your own ground you wankers
No one is crying about anything. Everyone admits it was a fair result. As for filling our ground that's a bit rich saying as we averaged more home supporters than you last season. You had 44735 against us this season which included a sellout away support of 2674. I was at your place last season and the top tier was full of empty seats. I think the crowd was under 40000 and 3000 of them were Sunderland. Classic case of pot kettle black.

-- Mon Mar 15, 2010 1:37 pm --

this is coming from a team with such loyal supporters to their club, which is why one of their so called fans in the sunderland end was waving a yellow and green norwich scarf?

Oh and a one town one team club who can't fill their own stadium despite their respectable ticket prices.
You're the only club in Manchester and you can't fill your ground either despite challenging for a Champions League place and spending shit loads of money on top players.

TBF, were it not for Gordon we could and perhaps should have won comfortably...

As for your support claims:

Manchester City: 42,900
Sunderland: 40,168

I didn't go yesterday so not gonna slag off those who did go! but ive been to a fair few games over the last few years where as a set of fans we may as well not have even been in the ground as we've made zero effort to get behind the team at all!

I get to around 8-10 away games a season and I generally feel year on year the atmospheres get worse and worse! why is this!? at Stoke away in the cup I thought we were just okay and at OT in the cup we were just above okay considering we had 9,000 but at Wigan and Everton they may as well have given our tickets to neutrals as theydv made mire noise than we did there! the only game I've been to where we've been worthy of being given the tickets was Wolves away, and even then it wasn't fantastic support like I remember from the 90's and early 00's!

Come on you blues! supporting City isn't about standing in stadiums with your arms folded not singing or shouting a fuckin thing and then being arrogant about how many loyalty points you've got! it's about being vocal and singing and shouting the shit out of your voice til you can't speak the next day! I can't always afford away games but when I do go at least I make it known I'm in the ground to our lads!
