Anyway, the original OP mentioned Souness so I thought it fair to post what I did.
Anyway, my guess is that the Kia/Tevez stuff is now all about keeping him in the public consciousness, but what neither of them really get is that they are just digging themselves a bigger hole each time they come out with shite like this.

Carlos Tevez is planning to take libel action against Sky pundit Graeme Souness in the latest fall-out from the Manchester City striker’s non-appearance in the Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich in September.

Souness was critical of Tevez’s behaviour after manager Roberto Mancini claimed that the striker had refused to come on as substitute and would never play for City again.

Tevez, who is keen to take the matter to court in what would be an unprecedented case against a TV football analyst, has received the backing of two leading media specialist QCs this week.

They feel he has a strong defamation claim against Souness after City charged the player with refusing to warm up and failing to follow instructions rather than refusing to play.

And the players’ union, the PFA, have ensured Tevez has been fined a fortnight’s wages of £400,000 rather than the four weeks City originally imposed.

Souness said on Sky Sports, with clips still on YouTube: ‘I’m in disbelief. How selfish can you get? Tevez is one bad apple. He can undo all the good work that has been done at City. He’s a disgrace to football. He epitomises what the man in the street thinks is wrong with modern football. It is totally unacceptable. He’s a football player and he is paid to play.’

Tevez has maintained throughout the saga that he never refused to come on as a substitute.

Sky would make no comment.

Did Souness publish his comments after making them ? - if not then how can it be libellous?

You could be right, it seems he hs a need for attention also, when you said that i remembered some guff coming from camp Tevez after we just smashed the rags or Wolves i forget which. Like some socially awkward bridesmaid at a wedding shouting "look at me" all the time.

If Souness believed what he was saying to be true then it isn't libel, as I understand it.

He won't sue. Just like he won't sue Mancini, and he won't sue The Guardian for their article about the real story behind Tevez's ownership.

This proves more than anything else what many people have been saying on these pages: Kia's 'influence' in English football is a complete sham.

His strategy for negotiating deals for his players was feeding player 'quotes' to the tabloids and to constantly go on about the 'special bond' his players had with the fans. The agent can be a bastard, you see, because Tevez was 'honest, always gave 110% on the field and loved the fans." It was, pathetically enough, just: Good cop, Bad cop.

But all that disappeared in Munich when Tevez refused to do what his manager asked and help out his team mates. The entire football world was appalled, Souness just happened to be the first one to say it. Devastatingly for Kia, Tevez was now the bad cop too.

So that's it. Kia's web of lies has collapsed. There's nothing left now, so he's desperately trying to claw back some of the image he paid the tabloids to create.

Sue Souness? For expressing his personal opinion?

There's no law suit here. If Tevez and his advisers think otherwise and want to throw good money after bad, leave them to it.

As for City, please get rid of the twat in January.
