Thank the police....

Wouldn't it be a nice touch if every blue gives the police a handshake, or just a thank you outside the ground on monday. Morale must be pretty low after the past few days, and leave has been cancelled, i'm sure this small gesture would mean a lot.
It would be a nice touch and people shouldn't be mocking the sentiment. But I have also had a couple of good weeks at work, never late, no time off sick and got my work done. I'll be in Block 232 on Monday if anyone would like to come up and shake my hand, maybe even buy me a beer if they wish.

I don't get all the people jumping on these stupid media campaigns ? why did it take a riot for some people to fall in love with the Police ? at the end of the day public order is part of their job (that is why their get riot training) it's funny last week the "Met" were found out to be selling stories to the 'News of the World' ! Also what about the Firemen ? no pat on the back for them ?

some people on this thread have serious anger issues..look I'm not some tree hugging liberal, and I know the police force are far from perfect. I find it a bit depressing though, that, the suggestion that, after such a difficult week for the city as a whole, a small gesture like a "cheers mate" and a handshake should provoke such outrage...very sad.

Where do you stop then? Should we find a hoodie and thank him for giving us a reason to thank the police in the first place?

Blueshortshorts, I thank the police & the stewards after every game, home and away. So I go along with your sentiment. As I walk past I usually just nod and say thanks and you can tell from their reaction that it is not something they are used to. And I shall carry on doing it. Each to their own. :-)

I was woken at 5.30 this morning by the sound of the bin men.
I looked out of the window and couldn't help but admire the
expert way the bin was loaded and emptied.
Even more impressive was the fact that he actually
left the bin stood up.
Such was my admiration i felt compelled to run
out in my dressing gown and slippers to thank him
personally and shake his hand.
Tho' he looked a little puzzled i'm sure i made his day.
