The thing is people need to realise that people support the team in different ways, shouting and screaming all match is fine for somebody but for a father there with 2 young kids, a guy with his girlfriend or a 60 year old guy it isnt the way they do it and i think it is quiet arrogant for the more vocal fans to act like their support is some-how more worthy than another guys who has probably been going to watch city since before some of them were even born.

This is a sad indictment of what football has now become, people no longer go and support their team, they go and want to be entertained. Im not saying everyone should shout and scream all game, but it would be nice to hear a few songs every now and again rather than all sitting there with their cup of coffee.

Our support is rapidly becoming shite.

Thank You My Point Exactly what happened to our famous Maine Road Atmosphere, which made me go to the game every weekend

I was in the corner of the east/north and it was horrible

i hardly ever sit down at games as my seat is in 111,
sitting there with no atmosphere, watching a shite game with a guy sat next to me who reffered to our players as "you" ("go on you" "get there you") was really hard to bare!!

every cup game from now on will be in my seat no where else i think!!

I know exactly what happened, football went from being a working class game (people on dole getting in free etc) to a predominantly middle class game with the arrival of SKY followed by all seater stadiums. Gradually the people that used to go with their mates could no longer afford to go to every game, and when they did struggle to get seats together as some still had season tickets etc. Youre then left with a stand which has people that just want to watch the match, and people who want to sing and shout all mixed up together, with no way of congregating together. This is why atmosphere has sufferred. There are probably as many people who want to sing in the East Stand as South Stand, but as just as many (if not more) dont want to, nothing ever gets going. Sadly, this will never change.

Fair enough about not everyone wants to go and scream and shout, but I don't see how you can be supporting the team by sitting there and letting out an occasional groan. How many times do you see players when coming to take a corner, willing the crowd to up it, it is sort of what you are there for in my opinion.

In the north stand today was rubbish, and I don't think I'd bother going if the whole ground took the same approach to watching football.

I took a few to 136 well 137 thinking it would be a great atmosphere, but nope it wasnt i felt totally let down,im a huge believe of the 12th fan amnd i love getting behind my team, i tried motavting the people aorund me a little but it wasnt happening, all i heard was a littly scally near the front sinigng Stand up if your a maniac? sad

If the club had been smart they would've given people a better chance of sitting in an "equivalent" of where they used to sit at Maine rd. when we moved.
I remember spending the first season in the Colin Bell stand and nearly pulling my teeth out at times.I tried to move but the ticket office told me where to go...then all the part-timers left when we didn't win the league that first season and I moved over to SSl1.

We need a "seat amnesty" and to fk the away fans off out of the South stand.Do what the Geordies do and stick them away in the corner somewhere. Then we can get all the "singers" in one place and re-claim the atmosphere!

This would be the only way to achieve it without bringing back standing in one of the lower tiers along the side, and we know theres no chance that will ever happen.

Make sure u tell me where this place is going to be! im fed up of the broing old East stand!

Hughes out, SGE songs etc. People are quick to forget City were terrible for the second half of last season. Singing his name like he is some kind of messiah![/quote]

i have been saying that for so long..at last someone else with a brain that watches us

Right can you stop slagging off the north stand.. it is the family stand for a reason.
To get away from all the standing/swearing/singing etc.
OAP's and young kids dont want to do this.

Exactly why forest should not have been given the south stand so, the standers/singers would be happy and so would the quieter supporters

Im not talking about the North Stand personally, I was referring to the fans as a whole. The atmosphere is embarrassing.

Has anyone actually tried moving their season ticket?

Since moving to Eastlands I had always sat in the East Stand because this is where former Kippax season ticket holders were allocated after the move. The atmosphere in Block 110 (being near the away fans) was okay but I found that it had deteriated the last couple of years, so this season both my brother and I decided to move our tickets to the South Stand. I now sit in great seats in Block 118, the atmosphere is much better, you can stand up (I know this isn't for everyone) and my ticket is over a £100 cheaper this season.

Anyway my point is, it couldn't have been easier swapping my tickets and the ticket office were very helpful so perhaps this could be an option for others who are dissatisfied with the atmosphere where they currently sit. I agree that it would be better if the South Stand could be just for City and away fans confined to the side of the pitch or one of the upper tiers (as at St James Park) although surely part of the reason for the atmosphere in the South Stand it its proximity to the away fans? Also, I think its been mentioned before that moving the away fans to elsewhere in the Stadium could be problematic because the away section was always designed to be in the South Stand as it is next to the car park.
