Right time for everyone concerned. Rather it be 1 season too early than 1 season (and a new contract) too late. Correct decision by the club and he gets a final challenge in the sunshine at city’s retirement village.

Interesting reading his letter that he only told the players in the group whatsapp. He clearly didnt want a fuss and to just drift away in the night.

My god, we will miss him.
I sat and watched the city film of all of his goals for us just shaking my head and thinking ‘how the fuck do we replace that’. He has scored so many big goals too.
Thank you Ilke. Lots of us including me underestimated your contribution for too long. You were simply a magnificent player and role model for the club.
