I think whether Manchester is shit is a matter of opinion.
They obviously don't regard it as a great place.
Just replying to the other poster who said he would be our manager.
I can't see it myself ;)

If you were sat down and thinking of places you'd want to live, when you had their kind of money Manchester wouldn't be top of the list. But ultimately football is a short career and they can earn big money and win things here so fortunately a lot of top footballers can put up with their other halves whingeing and come and play for us. I'm sure he landed in Barcelona with a nice bit of warm weather, better restaurants and thought wow this is ace, how did I stay for so long in the rain. Then he had a look at his trophy cabinet and his bank account and thought oh yeah, that's how! I can't see Ilkay being too bothered. He's spent the majority of his career in Germany or England - not particularly renowned for their food culture or weather! But his mrs is French and grew up in Italy (expert stalking) so I can understand her being a bit more focussed on food and weather.

My wife would live just about anywhere in the world and eat beans on toast if I earned the sort of salary top players are getting.

I suppose a lot of rag players have said this on leaving but it never makes the Daily Fail, is this what journalism has come to, what ex players wives and ex player’s themselves think of restaurants etc, they can afford to hire a top chef ffs.

They think Manchester is fantastic and the restaurants top notch, but if it’s city‘s players wives or girlfriends then it’s absolutely awful, the media can’t help themselves..

It’s likely the story’s been made up by the Barca media team to counter Gundo’s negative comments about lack of support.

There are nice and shit areas in any major conurbation.

Manchester is one of the best places to live if you're comfortable/doing well for yourself.

If you're on the next level and pretty loaded, it's probably not as good as places like London, Paris, NY etc. There's no shame in that; we just have fewer super-rich people than in those places, and the local businesses wouldn't sustain themselves catering to that type of audience en masse, yet.

It's simple economics Gundo!!

...also, it's so pretentious when millionaires come out and say there are NO good restaurants. There's fucking loads and it doesn't make you a foodie to say Wings is shite!
