Thank You Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker on whether he would swap his 2023 #UCL title for a EUROs title win with England: "Not in the circumstances of a Treble... Ah no, I think I'd have to! I'd have to! I'd have to swap it! I don't really want to because of the Treble, but I think for your country, that's the pinnacle of football, isn't it..." [via

If you'd ask Johnny Boulders he'd probably say the same. Along with some of our foreign players where their honour lies more with their country than their clubs. They'd be a few rare examples of our squad saying otherwise. Possibly only Phil off the top of my head because all he's ever wanted to do was wear a city shirt.

I have changed opinion slightly on the subject. I think we are blessed to have a group of players with so many trophies and medals that they feel comfortable swapping one or two of them for success where they didnt get it.

I am sure Bruno Fernandes would have swapped an assist record in the most low quality Premier League season of all time for actually winning something meaningful in his career.

Is Penandes ahead of Kev and TH in the assists? Like how???

He is well placed to beat their records this season with 8 games remaining. Only fitting that when there is a death of quality in football, a relatively ordinary player takes achievments from world-class ones

Or as a professional and international footballer who was employed by City, not someone he supports, his own personal best would be to win something with his country.

On the flip side, he was employed by a club that enabled him to win the lot. Without us he wouldn't have a WC, Euros or club trophies either.

An ex club captain saying he'd swap City's first Champions League title in a treble season for a euros? Yeah not for me.

Which is why you wouldn’t say it. It is for him, clearly.
Do you remember when he also said he'd swap a trophy he won With City for a trophy with Tottenham? Great player in his pom and servant for the club, shit bloke.

Because he won plenty here, was a good servant to them and so, professionally, he would have liked to have won something there. There’s no issue with that, it’s just a job to him and along the way he would have liked success at the places he’s been employed at.

Footballers and fans think differently. As fans we stick with our one club for life and follow them everywhere. It makes or breaks our weekend. We spend a fortune following our club through thick and thin.

For footballers its a job, I've spoken to some who don't get why you would follow your team to every game and some totally understand it. Nearly every footballer moves from club to club and as much as they may form allegiances they're not in love with the club. They also see things from the inside and like every job you eventually fall out with it.

I would say almost every footballer would put international football at the pinnacle of their personal career. So yes a euro or a world cup would be a higher achievement. As a fan i couldnt give a tripe supper for international football myself.

Christ some of you are massive wet wipes, like Rodri would swap his Spanish titles for the CL with City.
