Had his weaknesses but a good servant and a rugged physical old school defender who gave 100%. Immense during winter of centurion season and bagged a derby winner. Hope it works out well at Benfica for him.

Watched the rather dull Carabao Cup Final v Chelsea again a few weeks ago, he was outstanding at the back in that match. All the best to him for the future

Inconsistent as fuck though. One week world class, the next he'd be cringeworthy and mistake laden.

Part of numerous trophies though.

He was excellent in 2017/18 and scored the winner at the swamp so I hope it works out for him at Benfica.

He is walking away with more medals than some of the greatest players ever to have represented our club.

He deserves absolute respect for that and was a better player than the media allowed the masses to give him credit for.

Wish him well and thanks for always giving his all, regardless of his shortcomings.

Overall he did a good job for us. You don’t win all those medals if you are crap and teams don’t win cups playing consistently crap players. Not perfect, but a good signing when looked at in the whole.
