That Last Post vs Southampton

Has anyone got a clip of it?

Incredible performance from the young lad yesterday. In 20 years of attending Armistice Day games, I've never heard a Last Post performed so impeccably.

Note perfect throughout.

It got me properly emotional. To stand up in front of 55,000 and perform like that took serious guts. Fantastic stuff - his family should be proud.
My brother was one of the ex-servicemen who did the marathon and then lifted the poppy of the pitch before kick off, proud as fuck for him.

He was bang on wasn’t he?

Something that always annoys me with all this is though is the crowds and their clapping. It’s not a talent contest, we aren’t supposed to applaud it.

When the managers bring out the wreaths to after the end of The Last Post, it’s supposed to remain a silence throughout.
I’d like to think applauding is our way of showing our appreciation to the fallen men and women, plus our pressant day military.

I was expecting a minutes silence when he finished. The applause took me by surprise.

Don’t know how many of you been to Ypres and the Menin gate but before the ceremony you are asked not to clap after the last post .
As soon as the last post finishes people just walk away solemnly , l know every time I’ve attended I walk away with a tear in my eye .

Went earlier this year, very moving. Shame it's covered in Scaffold as my partner wanted to find her grandad's name but ther is small shop just beyond the gate towards the town centre that has a model and all sorts of info - be sure to go in it.

Fair play mate, it’s just my personal take on it.
