That Ref!!

At the top of the chest, just around the collar bone, there is a cluster of nerves that are very tightly packed which correspond to movements within the arm. As Dzeko slipped, he may have used his arm to ease the fall or the the impact could have shocked the cluster of nerves.

Anyone who has suffered this, can relate it to pain of a bone breaking, hence why the physio's examined the cluster area on the pitch and the touchline. It can feel very painful, which most of us indentify with as knowing that something could be wrong.

Dzeko nor Probert would know the extent of the possible injury, so to class as it as faining injury is just as idiotic as the Ref not allowing experts to assess it.

I aint a fan of Dzeko, i think he lumbers around in games too much and gets up to speed in games when he know he's getting a rest at half time, but he's a tough boy, not these pansies that throw themselves to the floor when a breeze hits them.

End of the day, whether Dzeko was faking it or there was something wrong, its professionally negelegent to disallow someone being assessed based purely on your opinion. Probert was wrong!

Absolutely 100 percent spot on mate

I think Dzeko got booked because it looked like he went for a shirt pull right beford he slipped. That's what I saw.

Is it only a sky blue arm that gets booked for a shirt pull. I remember Micah being penalised for a shirt pull on Louis at Goodison. Why don't refs penalise ALL shirt pulls which the Laws of the Game specify?

It was clear on tv why Dzeko was booked because of what Probert was saying to Kompany. He said 'I asked him and he said no' which I guess means he asked him if Dzeko required treatment and Dzeko told him no. Why that deserves a yellow card I'm not sure but the whole situation was embarrassing.

He did a good job.

There was nothing wrong with dzeko. If that had been an opposition player we would have all been livid. The guy was just faking. It reminds me of Liverpool last year where he went down and faked injury. Then seconds later Liverpool scored and he got up and started screaming at the linesman.

The man was taking the piss.

This is the most reasoned comment on here. Dzeko was milking it. He wanted to see if the ref would allow a medic on. -the ref had already made his mind up that Dzeko was not hurt. Lay down for 6 minutes - then walked off stretching his shoulder. At the end Dzeko was applauding the fans with both arms above his head. The ref had a word with Naissmith who wanted treatment after his chin had caught Fenys shoulder. He wasn't hurt either.Played on when ref had a word. Some of these players should get out and about on a Saturday night - I am sure they would not lay down so easily after a little tickle/smack.

That's the point though. Its not a referees job to judge who or who isn't hurt.

Sometimes the worst injuries come through bad landings like Negrado at West Ham. It was clear that Dzeko did not dive as he fell and then Silva won the ball back cleanly so why did he book Edin?

I find it hard to believe that Dzeko would have stayed down for as long as he did if he said he didn't want a physio to come over.

Also how many times have you seen a ref behave like that before? There have been plenty of examples where players are milking it from a lot less than Edin's fall and the ref always allows a medic on the pitch.
