That world cup ball

There'll be trolley loads at the doorway into ASDA from next week, £5 each or three for a tenner - with no takers.

Everyone says that "it's too light", but FIFA have strict guidelines about the weight of a ball. It's the same weight as every other ball.

Sorry mate, theres an allowable tolerance and this ball is virtually at the bottom end of that tolerance.
Read the article, it makes good sense and enables understanding of the basic 'flaws' in this balls construction.
Its either the ball, or half the best players on the planet suddenly lost their abiility to shoot or failed in their techniques, which were strangely ok when they did'nt try and do anything powerful or long distance.
I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with it — from what I've seen of it in the shop it's a piece of shit.

I think the problem is actually the fact it's TOO perfect. For instance, a golf ball has dimples so that the air currents have something to "grab". Every free kick hit by players just seems to float off into the middle distance.

played with a proper one the other day, it cost us 79.99 between 8 of us...
I paid the 9.99!!!

Its light, bouncy and when you catch it... BOY DOES IT MOVE IN THE AIR!!!

IMO, the premier leagues nike ball is miles better.....

Haven't seen one to touch, haven't kicked one but it looks like the cheapest of the cheap plastic balls. It might fit within the parameters re weight, size etc, but there is no denying it does not behave the way previously used balls have. Get some bloody leather in it, and a lace while we're at it!
