away from home this season
yes we lost but there is a light in the tunnel and its starting to shine brigher and brighter

we forget its early days still and they don't give out the medals until may
also we have been unlucky with the injury to kompany and david silva and are only 6 points of the top of the league so its not that bad

Agreed it was our best away performance and we are on the up, we were only let down by two players, the rest of the team did well.

I wonder which will bear more on the mental strength of the team - playing well and perhaps the best on the road this season, or having a deserved point wiped off the slate by individual incompetence.

Is Aguero, the rest of the strike force, and the creative midfield gonna redouble efforts because at the back of their minds they are thinking that they will have to be a couple of goals to the good because the bizarre is just around the corner.

now your just talking rubbish there!!!!
we are phooooooooooo
we are going down
we will never win again
all our players are shite
and i never went to york away!!!!!
ohhh shite sorry thats all the other pages!!!
for 40 mins in the 2nd half we played them off the park with some wonderfull free flowing football
and on sat god help norwich as they are going to pay for sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely agree. We were impressive IMO.

And based on that level of performance over the next 7 games, I think we will find ourselves right up there with a good chance. Looking at the games compared to our main rivals I would put us in 2nd going in to the Christmas rush based on the following...

City

Norwich (h) - 3pts
Sunderland (a) - 3pts
Spurs (h) - 3pts
Swansea (h) - 3pts
West Brom (a) - 3pts
Southampton (a) - 1pt
Arsenal (h) - 3pts

Total - 35 pts

Arse

Liverpool (h) - 3pts
United (a) - 0pts
Southampton (h) - 3pts
Cardiff (a) - 3pts
Hull (h) - 3pts
Everton (a) - 1pt
City (a) - 0pts

Total - 35pts

Chelski

Newcastle (a) - 3pts
West brom (h) - 3pts
West Ham (a) - 3pts
Southampton (h) - 3pts
Sunderland (a) - 3pts
Stoke (a) - 1pt
Crystal Palace (h) - 3pts

Total - 39pts

I dont expect Liverpool to keep this run up and I expect them to fall back somewhat over the next couple of months.

I know some of you are probably going to slate me but bare in mind that:

- We are about to have a fully fit team with cover in all positions.
- Panti is probaly going to get the nod ahead of Hart for at least a couple of games
- Kompany is back (and hopefully without any recurrence) which automatically means a more solid defensive line
- Aguero is on top top form
- Silva is back to his best

I have my body armour on so bring your best nay-sayers! ;)

I'm expecting us to respond positively - yesterday was gut wrenching, but there were the clearest signs yet that we are the best side in the division (Chelsea being second best), and that's something we weren't even sure about in the title winning season... There will be a sense of injustice I hope... I look forward to the return at Eastlands (although I won't be there sadly) when we can ram their 'one step beyond' idiocy up them again like we did a couple of seasons ago.

We just have to solve the Kompany conundrum - if he's going to get injured as often as he is doing we need someone closer to his ability so that the ship isn't rocked quite so violently when he's missing. We have to sign a quality central defender asap, and that was a big mistake in the summer. Demichelis was great yesterday, but I'd only keep him as cover and ship Lescott out as he's clearly not going to play. Kompany, new signing, Nastasic and Demichelis would be a super strong set covering all eventualities.

Hart, as annoyed as I was with him yesterday (and recently) is being badly served by the performance of the defence at the moment, and would be much better I'm sure if he had total confidence in those in front of him...

good home work lad

yep looking at that list of games and if we sort out the back 4 then joe hart can settle down again with kompany back we will be ok

if were talking about performance, yesterday we came for a point and our performance merited that (if it wasnt for that defensive blunder that literally gave me a bad dream last night- seriously). But personally i think possession doesn't always make the best performance. we would have been more incisive with negredo and aguero, and if we got overrun then sub negredo.

in terms of other away performances, stoke and cardiff were pretty bad. Aston Villa was a good performance for most of the game. West Ham was the best, however. Negredo and Aguero linked up great, silva was on fire, we were not shambolic at the back.

The performance merited a draw for sure but personally i prefer it when a performance merits a win (eg- west ham)
