thats the best we played

...apart from Chelsea's opening onslaught. Maybe the plan was to soak up the pressure, I'm not privy to that information, but we couldn't get the ball from them in the opening minutes- which wasn't good for my nerves. Speaking of nerves, I think the only thing holding us back is a little lack of confidence. It seems like we have to continually start over from the first whistle before we build a little confidence and start playing our game. I don't think we will be at "scoring goals for fun" levels until Dec/Jan. More trials and tribulations to come unfortunately, just need to stay within touching distance.

yes we lost but there is a light in the tunnel and its starting to shine brigher and brighter

we forget its early days still and they don't give out the medals until may
also we have been unlucky with the injury to kompany and david silva and are only 6 points of the top of the league so its not that bad
Why didn't i read this when i got up this morning instead of going to the 'slag em all off' thread?

if were talking about performance, yesterday we came for a point and our performance merited that (if it wasnt for that defensive blunder that literally gave me a bad dream last night- seriously). But personally i think possession doesn't always make the best performance. we would have been more incisive with negredo and aguero, and if we got overrun then sub negredo.

in terms of other away performances, stoke and cardiff were pretty bad. Aston Villa was a good performance for most of the game. West Ham was the best, however. Negredo and Aguero linked up great, silva was on fire, we were not shambolic at the back.

The performance merited a draw for sure but personally i prefer it when a performance merits a win (eg- west ham)

Doesn't the performance meriting a draw or a win also have to do with the quality of the opposition? In absolute terms the same performance we had at West Ham may have produced a similar result if played against Chelsea.

Of course, we're just speculating and 'what ifs' are too easy to say in hindsight.

Thought the whole team played fantastic the work rate was by far the best I have seen for a long time . I just hope they recover quickly after such a massive blow having worked so hard to come away with nothing.

Just a shame about Joe letting us down yet again .

There have been encouraging signs that our away form is improving. In both the Villa and Chelsea games showed we deserved to get something out of the games and only individual errors cost us the points.

Yes agreed City were fantastic yesterday apart from at the back.
I thought we were fine at the back too, there weren't many scares, we've had far more in other games. I thought we looked solid, but for a full back in poor form, and a moment of madness from our keeper, and we'd have had 1 or 3 points. Chelsea created little in that second half, and whilst they had some good first half chances they didn't take them.

Still feeling very positive myself and sill convinced that it's only a matter of time before it really comes together and we boss the fuck out of this league. I am confident we will win the next 5 league games

Some of the posts on here these last couple of days have been ridiculous. So many football fans are so short sighted in so many aspects of the game, the 'is the title out of reach' thread is fucking insane. 6 points off top in November and people writing this squad off under a new manager with new ideas. The mind boggles

It's the same old thing, we have a proportion who only log on to moan, and never log on to say anything positive, they use the forum as a sort of emotional punch bag, one guy yesterday I went through his post history and right back to Hughes he only came on to rant and rave, we won the FA Cup and the title not a peep from him

I haven't read or posted much since the game yesterday, as some of the complete rubbish posted since is pathetic, both about the manager, the team, and individual players. I was angry at the way lost, still am, but anyone who doesn't see the performance yesterday as anything but a team who will challenge for the title is blind. We need to take more of our chances, and we need stop giving gifts, but we're improving our play almost game on game.
