Which games spring to mind when you here that familiar chant response.

I’ll start with Boxing Day 26th December 1985

City 1 Liverpool 0

Scorer: Clive Wilson

Team: Nixon, Reid, Power, Clements, McCarthy, Phillips, Melrose, May, Davies, McNab, Wilson. Sub: Simpson

Jim Melrose had a strange City career, especially as it was his initial attempt that Grobelaar saved before Wilson pounced on the rebound

This was actually Melrose's last game for City and yet, whilst not scoring that many goals they were nearly all memorable (Charlton 5-1) or spectacular (Notts County 2-0)

He had a little purple patch around Christmas/New Year 84-85 and I can still picture his scrambled effort (from the Lowfield Road seats) at Elland Road on New Year's Day.

Last home game of the season before against QPR attendance was 32,040, relegated a week later… first home game of 1998-99 against Blackpool attendance was 32,134.

Is it me or does that song completely miss the point opposition fans are making, that we weren't there when we were shit (which is obviously bollocks).

"More than you when we were shit" would be a better comeback.
Me and my lad always chuckle at this. They aren't asking us what we were doing, they are asking where we were.....Pedantic, I know.

For a steadily increasing percentage of City fans, the answer is...Wasn't born when we were shit.

Football will be back on in a day or so. Save these threads for the next international break :)

City 3 - 0 Arsenal 1987

One of those performances that pissed me off as a kid as we'd been shite for most of it.
Remember that game well; was sat in the Main Stand with my girlfriend at the time. We were pretty much down and the pressure was off. Arsenal were no shakes at that time either. Think they got going the season after.

For lots of our supporters it isn’t bollocks at all. The last time we were outside the PL was nearly a quarter of a century ago. Many of our match going supporters have never seen us play outside the top flight, and so weren’t there when we were shit.
