Do you have to pay tax? If so how much is creamed off?

No tax. Years ago(pre online betting), every time you put a bet on, you had the option of paying tax before the bet. (9 or 10 % can't quite remember). If you won that was it, you took the full winnings. You could also choose to not pay tax but if you won you be taxed 10% of the stake and winnings.

When the government decided gambling was a good way to keep us plebs occupied while they got on with the job of being crooks, they got rid of all taxes on gambling.
