The 9320/We Are The North Stand - A Supporter Section

Just to clarify , 1894 policy

Club plans for north stand have been ran past members and surveying shows a majority of people wanting to stay in south stand for various reasons as it stands.

A year ago we asked club publicly for details on prices etc and guarantees on protecting the area as a singing section , making full traditional season tickets available and not having seats in this area to end up in the hands of third party resellers. No guarantees so far.

Also asked for a 18-25 section to be incorporated. All that was given was cheaper tickets for 18-21 year olds .. so far.

What we said to the club last summer was that whilst we were not in favour of the plans as they were presented ie with 3 small sections spread across with people sat down in between , we would still help anyone members or otherwise who still did wish to move across. At the same time we do not wish to lose what we have in the south stand. Perhaps the creation and introduction of an 18-25 section would bring some energy to the north stand and in effect allow for 2 ends to sing to each other, ie adding to what we have already not splitting up
And diluting the singers we currently have.

We already have responses from surveys and we are ready to feed into the club when they are ready to proceed with dedicated windows for moving, the people who are being moved from NS lower will have a priority window over everyone else first.

We have had face to face discussions with the OSC leadership and also discussed plans with the chair of Citymatters and the 18-25 rep from Citymatters. We’ve suggested teams from the OSC and 1894 work together on this together with the 18-25 rep.

Club came back to say that the plans sounded good and are workable but we are waiting now for further updates.

By all means if anyone is getting a few people together from here that’s all well and good, remember it’s the fine detail that counts. It’s ok to move but if you are going to be surrounded by different people every week it clearly isn’t going to work.

Factor in also the fact that many people wish to stay in the south stand - on various tiers - because they enjoy the proximity to the away fans.

The Future`s Bright, The Future`s Blue - What is the best chance of lifting the atmosphere?

Ten goals, debutants scoring and performing well, 11 points above the rags and ragettes, League Cup semi-final, well placed in the Champions League, FA Cup draw on Monday, second in the PL and a new stand to open in 2026.

We are all on the same side here. Differences of opinion are bound to exist. However, if we focus on the facts and be objective there remains a good chance of real progress.

Lets work together.

We are now at a crucial point where well thought through proposals about what is the best chance of improving the atmosphere in the stadium can be taken forward.

The best chance is to give backing to the North Stand, accept that some will want to remain in the South Stand, and for as many as possible from the atmosphere group to review their position and set up in the North Stand.

It is very important to have the debate through this forum, especially now that atmosphere group have taken an early stance to consolidate in the small South Stand lower. Fortunately there is time for the leadership of the atmosphere group to pause, reflect on what others are saying, and make the right choices for the 2026/27 season.

Despite the best efforts from active fans, fundamentally there are inherent issues with the South Stand that cannot be overcome if CITY want a proper home end.

Atmosphere Improvement

The club is investing significantly in the North Stand and surrounds the benefit of CITY fans and to help ensure the financial sustainability of the club for the long term. Further information on the North Stand is intended to be released by the club in 2026.

We must make the most of this opportunity.

North Stand - Advantages - Large on ONE level - 9,500 seats * / safe standing

What do you agree with below?

What do you not agree with and why?
  1. One large home end.
  2. New, wrap-round design, better acoustics, visually impressive and dominant.
3,000 minimum rail seats /safe standing.
  3. 1,500 ? extra rail seats can be incorporated down part of both sides.
  4. 4,700? General Admission (GA) seats.
  5. There is more chance these fans will join in the singing. The rear and the side rail seats (if added) will envelop the GA. The sound will BOOM from the back and below. More fans will be able join in on ONE level.
  6. Pricing - lower priced rail seats compared with the existing South Stand lower level.
  7. 3,000 rail seats will probably be the cheapest in the stadium.
  8. No impact on the majority of existing fans in the current North Stand on the new level.
  9. 300 GA+ seats near the front of the huge, new level will have no impact on the atmosphere that can be generated by 9,200 fans behind.
  10. A proper, big, dominant, visually impressive home end on level 2.
  11. Flags can be prominent as they are in Newcastle`s home end opposite the away fans.
  12. Not split for PL matches and not allocated to away fans for cup matches.
  13. A real and great opportunity for a new beginning, refresh and renewal.
*seating figures are estimates.

North Stand - Disadvantages

What are the downsides ?

Are they of any real significance compared with the advantages?

South Stand - Disadvantages

What do you agree with below?

What do you not agree with and why?
  1. Split over 3 levels
  2. No cohesion between the 3 different levels. The upper tier is separated from the lower tier which it cannot see and often cannot be heard.
  3. Too small with a low rake at the lower level
  4. Sound deadening overhang at the rear of the lower level.
  5. Not a `proper, complete end by any definition or in comparison with other clubs.
  6. The middle and upper levels are allocated to away fans for cup matches. They usually dominate the singing.
  7. The SS design does not work well for atmosphere. It does not seem to be improving.
  8. There is little scope for it to be much better due to the stand`s layout.
  9. Away fans will always be located in the SS due to access and egress, a dedicated coach / car park and police / health and safety requirements.
  10. Pricing - the lower level safe standing higher priced compared with the rear of level 3.
  11. Barely visible on TV.
South Stand Level 1 - Advantages - 3,000 safe standing

1. It is currently an area where the best atmosphere is generated more frequently.
2. It has an active group who have put in time and effort in building mainly the lower 1 into a safe standing area.
3. Displays - they are only visible for a short time, pre-match before being rolled away. The amount of time, effort, and cost of displays is significant.
How much of an atmosphere generator, are the displays?

4. Some fans are settled and prefer lower level viewing.

5. Some fans prefer `banter` with away fans.
How does this contribute to the atmosphere and supporting the team?

6. Some like the type of facilities on the level 1 concourse.

What will be the best chance of improving the atmosphere?
One large North Stand on ONE level, or a small, split, lower South Stand?

I do think a lot want to stay in south stand just for the sake of being near the away fans? But might need to suck it up just to relocate for the better atmosphere at the stadium instead of standing goading away fans.
I wonder what the relocation criteria will be? I'm sure people from all over the stadium will be interested in potentially going there.

There will be no criteria it will be the relocation window as normal.

A lot will depend on pricing, and if it is cheap loads will move there from the more expensive areas, as happened with SSL3, and the new tickets will mainly be filling those that have been displaced.

As a south coast resident, but a lifelong City fan, I hope a lot of City regulars migrate to the North Stand, the atmosphere would be incredible. Make sure you take your baseball caps and sunglasses though, because of the sunrays which are notorious from the south during the football season. Did you see the shadows at Macclesfield yesterday? ;-)

Having done most aways over the last 7 years you would think you would get an idea what does and dosnt create a good atmosphere,
It's totally random one year a ground can be rocking next totally flat .
What ever you put in place for home games is going to be the same result.
Imho the biggest driver of atmosphere is what is happening on the pitch ,be it a great performance, shit performance or even a shit referee.

The prices we hear will be same as south In Terms of pricing.

I’m looking to move into the north stand, but it entirely depends on the ticket prices and a few other factors.

I think this is our last chance to create a proper home end. It’s not going to be 90 minutes of none stop singing, but it’s our best and only chance of doing something different and bringing some noise to that end of the ground

I think this could be a concern. I wonder if I move to the north stand will my seat, just then become a match day ticket instead. That could make the atmosphere worse in the rest of the ground

just like to add that many more fans currently in the family stand(soon to be the North stand) will join in the singing. A few around me sing regularly already.

There's enough potential singers around the ground to make the north stand a success, even if nobody from SSL0 moves.

Loads and loads of people who sing their hearts out at away games every week, don't sing at home because of where they sit. With it being impossible to relocate to SSL0, these singers will all be looking towards the north stand to be a place that they can relocate to with their mates.
