The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Unless his brother in-law owns madison square gardens, but then we have a lot to choose from!

massive in Canada and sad early demise of singer - was thinking of something heavier for SB but it's defo this i reckon. If so, there's a good line of discussion here about why some Canadian bands don't get wider success. Solo artists seem to have it easier.

Tragically hip - day for night
Bang on!!
Singer Gord Downey, was diagnosed with a brain tumour....so as you would, he got the doctors to pack their cases, and out they went for a farewell tour!
The last of which was in their home town of Kingston, Ontario, and was broadcast live on TV.....emotional is a bit of an understatement ;(
"When The Hip play...we are all Canadian"
I'm not, but the ex wife was brought up in Canada, and has alot of family there.....we were visiting at the time!
The middle album of a run of 3 fantastic ones, imo. Chose this one (close with 'trouble at the hen house') as ...and Grace too, and Nautical Disaster are 2 of my fav songs ever, despite being an 80's rocker at heart.
Not a 'favourite' band overall for me, as when the edge was replaced with shiny production, they weren't so much my thing! But this is.....enjoy, hopefully ;)

Apart from Rush ;).

And Nickleback.

FFS maybe Nickleback are the reason!

I was thinking of the likes of The New Pornographers and God Speed You Black Emperor - who I think should probably be better known than they are over here whilst the likes of Bieber and Drake have no trouble at all.

Well based on my slight surprise and possibly even disappointment, clearly I was subconsciously looking forward to dishing out the same beating you gave a AGDCFF. Looks like that'll have to wait for your next pick though ! ;-)

Nice clues, and not the Canadian band I'm most familiar with, so I wasn't getting this one.

A band I've heard of, but never got into. Listening to the first track off the album selection, very nice, so going to enjoy this album from the mid-90's.

The album I overplayed from the mid-90s that had a day/night theme was Melon Collie... from the Pumpkins, but just like The Bravery ;-), they're still touring, so I didn't bother to guess them.
