The Album Review Club - Week #149 - (page 1963) - Every Picture Tells A Story - Rod Stewart

There is a great Ronnie Laine compilation on Spotify.Just for a moment.
Ronnie also has lead vocals on the Faces song Debris which is my favourite Faces song.
Spotify is going to get a Faces and Ronnie Lane hit from me this week.
Has there ever been an artist who turned into shite as quickly as Rod.

This is the first reviewed album that actually might have a page on this thread discussing it in the year it was released. D-Day is in 2 pages. Those of us numbers obsessed think like that. ;-)
Actually, I think it will be this album which is a mere 5 pages away from 1971.

And for good birth year luck, I had to have a post on record on page 1966. ;-)

Maggie May was the first single I ever bought. Also had Stay With Me and Cindy Incidentally by the Faces.
Remember having Never A Dull Moment on cassette!
Had always loved this album and finally found it in a second hand store about 10 years ago.
It was and remains magnificent.

When Rod went full on lycra it was very sad.

I was disappointed when Roxy Music pitched up in 77 with their new sound but in retrospect nothing like as big a crime as Rod's disco phase.

You are so right. I was dragged along to see him live just after that phase and his performance was frankly embarrassing. Sad when you remember the music he was capable of. Still I’m sure he consoles himself with his beautiful women and millions in the bank.

You can score Every Picture Tells a Story out of ten if you want mate it all contributes to its final ranking.

One of my favourites too, good cover by Neal Casal

You’re right, always been a RA fan but last time I saw him live was with ‘The Cardinals’ never bothered since.
His output in recent times is ridiculous, releasing 3 or 4 albums a year and covering classic albums. Its his own label so no quality control, shame because there’s maybe a couple of good single albums he could release but I just can’t be bothered to sift through all the songs to find them.
