Fuck, I'm down to 9Well at least you wont get the "much coveted" Xmas slot :)
You'd have to do a festive album like "Christmas With Ken".....(Ken Dodd) hahaha

Was great when they resurrected Watcher of the Skies for the encore on what was arguably their greatest tour in 76 with Bruford and Collins whipping up a storm.

Prog transcends the mind :)I must admit I'm completely out of my depth here, but this is good. Really good.
Fuck me I like prog rock. How did this happen?
One minute I'm listening to my usual fare, minding my own business thank you very much, the next I'm in a world of bonkers musicians playing this other worldly mindfuckery music, which I like far too much.
Thanks, I think....
I'll be fucking dying for something else other than Christmas to concentrate on by that matey.............Ha ha I'm genuinely humbled I've received the "much coveted" spot.
Coveted by whom I may ask?
Everyone will be pissed and far too preoccupied to listen to my choice, which, given the album I have in mind, might not be a bad thing...
Do you want to add to the list of scores by rating out of 10?Saw Genesis at the Free Trade Hall in Jan 1971, they were the bottom of the bill to Van der Graaf Generator and Lindisfarne. Tickets were six shillings, or 30p as we say these days.
I joined the RAF soon after. I didn't buy Trespass for some reason but got Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot when they came out and they got played to death in the barrack block. Stuck with Genesis up until the Lamb, which was amazing too, but lost interest once PG left.
Great to hear Foxtrot again after all these years.
Alternatively if you felt the need to post up some CSN-Y some of us wouldn't be too disappointed.........;-)Id given up on my prog album 2 days ago but there seems to be some posters in favour of more prog, so Im leaning back to it again after wracking my brains and coming up with a substitute LoL
Marks out of 10?I come in to Genesis at Selling and leave after TTWT. Good run of albums including Seconds Out. Wuthering is only one that lets this run dow. I really cannot get into anything prior or post this period. A bit like Floyd with Meddle to Animals...(with one obvious exception). Fox Trot should be right up there but I don't feel it. Shite cover as well...
GFTO is my favourite album by a mile. That album and the one that followed are by-passed imho by some Yes fans, who can seem a bit obsessed with the likes of Close To The Edge, Tales, Relayer, which personally I can take or leave.
Best 3 Yes albums for me would be The Yes Album, GFTO, and 90125.
In my post above, I wasn’t dismissing the other tracks on GFTO - I also love Parallels for example, which sounds particularly good on Yesshows - it’s just that Awaken is off the scale for me!
4Marks out of 10?
Not for me with Delerium; there are no parts of it that reach the emotional shivers that parts of Supper and Awaken can achieve, but yep, agree overall pal.GFTO is my favourite album by a mile.
All five tracks are very strong. Wish I could do a review right now but Parallels for me is the best track ever.
As for Genesis I love Watcher of the Skies and Get them out by Friday via Genesis live so can’t really rate this album.
As for Suppers Ready I’ll raise you Gates of Delirium or Awaken

Like with Genesis their epics were equally good live, and you can’t say that with all bands. Of all the live bootlegs I’ve heard from Yes, the Wembley Empire Pool (Arena) shows from 78 that were recorded and broadcast on the Friday Rock Show was be far the best.
Have a listen to the version of Awaken on here. Magnificent!
Yes, it was incredible live wasn’t it, esp when Wakeman extended and developed that mid-section.Agree with all this. But think that Awaken had to be seen live to fully understand it's magnificence. Never fully captured on record...
Saw it many times. Reduced me to tears each time. It is, along with comfortably numb, my all time emotional high at gigs...Yes, it was incredible live wasn’t it, esp when Wakeman extended and developed that mid-section.

If you read the history of the recording with Wakeman in St. Martin’s church in Vevey and the rest of the band in Montreaux with a telephone wire rented between them, what’s captured on the record is all the more remarkable.Agree with all this. Those 3 put on the best “yes” show I’ve seen in a long long time.Saw Anderon, Rabin & Wakeman live a few years back and their performance of Awaken was the highlight of the show.
