Those 3 put on the best “yes” show I’ve seen in a long long time.
They did.

Good grief but I understand that it's all subjective.
7 I think, but would have been higher if you'd asked me in '72.Do you want to add to the list of scores by rating out of 10?
It does feel like a missed opportunity, we could have been conducting these reviews as pen pals............7 I think, but would have been higher if you'd asked me in '72.
You feeling any better mate?a flower ?!
Early Genesis are a great band for sure - so much talent and musicianship for such a young group as shown here on foxtrot.
once again a pick dominated by its side 2 epic - this one being ‘Supper’s ready’ there’s simply no way you can listen to this once and give a review, each listen brings so many new elements- but who has the time to listen to a 23 min song over and over! Well fortunately I’ve heard it about 6 times - which grew on me more and more - some real beautiful moments throughout and some eerie haunting moments aswell , some parts I could easily skip.
lyrically and I think the same for most with Prog rock - I don’t find much connection - some of it might aswell be quotes from Lord of the rings as I haven’t a scooby what the plot is about unless I do some intellectual research where everyone has different fantasy version
I would urge everyone unfamiliar with early Genesis and ‘Supper’s ready’ to watch the live show they did in the 70’s - it’s outstanding - Peter Gabriel is mesmerising as a front man, love his voice.
rest of the album is just ‘ok’ for me, ‘watcher of the skies’ has a awesome intro but then I got a bit bored. ‘Timetable’ and ‘Horizons’ are nice songs - the rest I found pretty tedious and just waited in anticipation for ‘supper’s ready’ which overshadowes the rest.
anyway, great pick, enjoyed a lot.
6/10
You feeling any better mate?
Just a quick flick, bizarrely I don't think it is - but I definitely scrolled past Joe Johnson again............is this in the top 1000 ?
No, but no doubt the Genesis aficionados will be delighted to hear that Invisible Touch is.is this in the top 1000 ?
It was a great pick mate - as per usual it's going to divide opinion. I find these threads can be therapeutic at times - keep well. Thanks everybody for their reviews. Some amazing write-ups ..even the ones that are wrong!! haha. It's a challenge having to read other people's views on your favourite music....and just accepting that we all have different tastes. It's the way our brains are wired. We approach music from different angles and have different expectations. What works for me, may irritate another...and there are no rules. I could like one song for one reason but hate another song for that same reason....if you get me. But...Supper's Ready IS the best epic song. Ever. Fight me over it.
Just like to say as well...it's been a bit of a shit, low 2 weeks for me ...coming off certain meds,. having a cnut of a cold and lack of sleep are fucking about with my brain..., so doing this has really helped keep my head a bit more focused. Cheer's everyone...now i hand the baton over to Big Bill Walker. Sounds like an Australian outlaw haha.
*edit.
Onholiday(somemightsay) are you next, mate?
I like Going for the One and Don't Kill the Welsh!Just loving reading other people’s opinions of my favourite ever band.
Anyone who is a Manchester City and Yes fan has the finest taste :-)
Yeah...just got a bit confused haha. I've just checked the list. Going from RAGTM to Foxtrot. That's what it's all about. It was a great pick mate - as per usual it's going to divide opinion. I find these threads can be therapeutic at times - keep well.
My Mrs was fucking amazed that you thawed me out on something associated with Phil Collins.
BW is up next I believe - I was responsible for the Rage Against the Machine-gate............ ;-)
