We want our shiny new toys and we want them now!

Nice.
Im not too arsed if theyre shiny, new, in flavour or anything. I just think it would be naive of the club if we went into the season with the same 4 ageing/weak full backs, and a non bolstered midfield that was an utter shambles through the final 2 months of the season and was walked all over in every single big game we have had in the past 2 years bar a league cup final.

Feel free to mock peoples opinions and that, of course, but dont be naive too in thinking the current crop are good enough to meet the standards of the man we have courted and finally secured after 4 years. This is a huge summer for us

You don't believe pep knows what he is doing then?

Dont really know what you mean.
I mentioned Pep has high, high, high standards... I think people are naive if they believe the CURRENT full back set and central midfielders we have will be able to meet the standards he requires and demands.
We will see over the next 6 weeks of course and in the coming season.
I have faith in him, but I am obviously concerned at the tools he has to work with as things stand ONLY

How the fuck have they? Signing a has been striker that bombed in the Euros and his games against us, who has a rep for dissent. A midfielder who may well be shown to have only looked so good because he was surrounded by greats at Dortmund and could well be Steven Ireland 2.0 in terms of a team making him look better than he was. A CB who is okay, but they have other okay CB's.

I'd take Gundogan & Nolito over that any day of the week.

And we havent even gotten started yet.

Some serious flappers on here these days ffs.
you forgot zinchenko mate. Who all the top teams in Europe wanted.

He has taken training for 10 days, probably watched sagna at the euro's,reports both zabba and kolorov have been leaving but we have not let them go,relax he knows what he is doing

**** Pogba **** Kroos **** After that available quality does drop off......
This is what I fail to understand...who are the next best after Kroos and Pogba? It really can't be a gulf and even if it was then the also rans may be just as effective in a team. And aren't they quite different in their strengths? so is there really two lists.

1. Top Kroos type players (for example Iniesta)
2. Top Pogba type players (for example Shelvey :-) )

There are thousands of professional central midfielders. Is the only reference FM? :-)

(If we can't come up with our own list of alternatives then why bash the club. Pogba and Kroos being unattainable is unavoidable so we need to accept that part and look to alternatives. IMO)

If the full back targets or any other targets have changed after 10 days training then it can only be on Peps say so, if he hasn't seen Zaba, then maybe he's seen something in somebody else, one of the younger players or maybe even Fernandinho.

I just spit my drink out at that Shelvey line you ass.
The hard part about alternatives is that we won't see much agreement on such targets due to exposure or the players being untested. A lot of what typically makes a player have the type of reputation a Kroos/Iniesta/Pogba/Shelvey has is their performance on the big stages.

To put it succinctly, Iniesta wasn't Iniesta until he became Iniesta.

I think you could say krychowiak, kante and xhaka would be in that list.

Oh well.

I know what you mean but its hard to judge in the first 10 days of pre season when half the squad isnt there really..

I do like Maffeo and he may have a chance but I really wouldnt like to wager that Angelino does, he was defensively incapable in the MLS but then again its an attack minded league. I admire and love Zabaleta but sometimes letting go is the best bet for not just the club but the player too. His game needs the energy his body doesnt SEEM to still have

And talking of tools ...

Same thing every year mate, small team mentality from some of our fans still remains.

Meanwhile the rags have been shitting bricks since we announced Pep.

They have and there response has been to try and convince their zillions of fans that they are in for the worlds top players, who funnily enough, never seem to rock up. IMO they are a better commercial organisation than a footballing one and with that attitude, they will never really recover their former glories.

They are and always will remain SCUM
