The battle for 4th place

Two very tough fixtures at completely the wrong time for where we are with our mentality. Unfortunately I think we will get very little return and be stuck with 5th at best.
 
Anyone know how Silva is doing, any chance of playing Sunday

With Nasri and Silva we will win
With one of them its 50/50
With neither we are f@@ked

Three years, 6 transfer windows and god knows how many millions spent and it's come to this.Mancini built a team and took us forward.
Pellegrini and Txiki inherited a team and took us backwards
Pep really will need to be a genius to sort this out

Except that will not be correct. West Ham would have to drop points against Swansea at home too for us to guarantee anything on Sunday even with a win.

Because we messed up at Southampton in the match we rested everyone so they could be full of go in Madrid.

Had we got a point there then your scenario would work out. As it is we need both of United and West Ham to drop points and us to beat Arsenal for the Swansea game not to matter. Because United and West Ham play each other Tuesday and if either side wins that we need something on the last day as well.

If United and West Ham both win Saturday we will probably have to win both matches for top 4 (and actually top 3).

Hence I think we will be 3rd or 5th. Not 4th. Now.

Beat Arsenal and I think we will win at Swansea and get 3rd. As we will do by winning both - unless Arsenal get a hat full at home to Villa in the last game and catch up the GD gap on us (not totally out of the question).

Fail and I suspect we are 5th as I do not see both of United and West Ham not taking advantage of yet nother gift from us that keeps playing them in.

They actually both really want top 4.

I am genuinely not sure if our players actually do.

Hence someone at the club needs to identify today which of them do - super star or youngster - whatever - and play that 11. Not any showboaters given a lazy goodbye to their 'fans' because it is likely their last ever home game at the Etihad.

Normally it is okay to do that and the players deserve it. But they have lost that right via their recent inept displays and now sentiment has to be secondary to what matters for the club.

Not convinced Pellegrini will do this voluntarily - so someone should right now be basically ordering this course of action.

We cannot allow another 'must win match' display like the one we got last night when we play Arsenal.

The hatful would have to be 9-0 even if both our wins are by only one goal. Tall order even against Villa.
 
If we finish 4th we are not certain of a Champions League place. Should Liverpool go on and win the Europa League they will be come the 4th team in the Champions League, and 4th place will go into the Europa league. To be certain of a place in the Champions League we have to win our last 2 games against Arsenal and Swansea. Otherwise we will be playing Thursday night football in the Europa League
 
I don't see any justification for leaving Kelechi out of the team this weekend. He's the only player over the last couple of games that shows positive intent (probably because the manager hasn't ground it out of him yet!) You simply have to play him

No, it won't. There will be 5 PL teams instead, just like this year for Spain.
 
I feel if either West Ham or United win the game between them, they'll go on to make top four.

We'll lose against Arsenal (just look at our results against the top 7).

Swansea on the last day is a strange one. On one hand, they're already on the beach. On the other hand, we don't press or stop teams playing, so they might put one more big performance in at home and want to finish the season with a win.

Is this the Arsenal that have won 5 of their last 15 games or a different Arsenal not yet seen this season?
 
Finish 5th, it's been a shambles since October. Arsenal will wipe the floor with us.
 
We don't seem to be able to put a run of consistency together. So I'm not hopeful ATM.

Arsenal will be coming to win as Wenger is under pressure, so a win would ease his position.

I watched Arsenals last few matches, they're as bad as us, don't understand all these we'll get twatted posts!

No this has come up many times. England will have 5 places in CL next year if the dippers win the Thursday night cup. 4th of course means a play off to get into the competitions group stage.
