The battle for 4th place

It's not moot, that's 13 games, or nearly half a season, that he got it wrong.

What about playing Demichellis? What about insisting on a high line and no protection when he did pick him?

Persisting on using Delph on the left which has failed to work every single time and when other options were available.

Was he ever forced to play 442 with Nando and Yaya in an immobile two? No. So why then did he do it more than half a dozen times?
I like you

I suspect injuries, number of games etc. Not defending pell completely, he has made many mistakes, but players can't get a free ride.
I expect them to show today a passion not seen for a while. Fingers crossed
Sadly I expect us to be picked off pretty easily and lose 3-0. I just want this season to be over now.

Its actually less than a third of a season when you count the times they started together. I have raved about Kelechi from the start but I can understand why Wilf was given chances-it didn't work out.

Pellers has always played a high line-again witnessing the end of DeMichelis's career wasn't pleasant.

Delph has been terrible on the left-but I would argue options were limited.

And yes Yaya and Fernando are hardly the dynamic duo-but again options were often v limited.

I don't think we are world's apart-I just don't see how this makes Pellers a c*nt. The squad has declined and needs to get younger, fitter and faster.

If my options are; walk along a path in the piss pouring rain or throw myself off the cliff to get out of the rain, then I'd state they are limited options. What I wouldn't do, is throw myself off the flaming cliff.

You can say limited options as much as you want, but I've posted on the pre game threads so many times ("I hope he doesn't do this or we are fucked...") only for him to then do that, and us get fucked. Making a mistake is easy enough, failing to learn from that mistake over and over again shows he's either a fucking idiot, or didn't give a fuck.

He's the nob that states "we don't change our style, we play the same way every game". And he's right, he does, that's why every manager in the league has worked out how to play us.

I can't think of five managers currently employed in the PL that I honestly think would have done worse over his tenure, given his resources. He's a fucking fraud and luckily, we have a manager coming in that will actually plan and train for each game to nullify the opposition and make the most of their weaknesses as opposed to simply think "we don't change, let them worry about us". That thinking should have died out in the 70's.

As optimistic as i've been all season facing a top 4 side. We'll limit the damage to just 3-0 to Arsenal

Agreed

Bang on. He was a really poor appointment at the time and I think most could see he was an extremely limited manager within 6/7 months of his first season. Can't wait until he is gone,it's been a huge mistake on the clubs part to keep him beyond last season Pep or no Pep. We have regressed under his tenure which in fairness the hierarchy have to shoulder a lot of the blame.

Sadly agree 100%

injuries are one thing. refusing to change a player or a formation that didn't work is malpractice imo.

The Bony v Nacho argument isn't simply linked to starts; it's also linked to which one comes on as a sub.
There's also the issue of bringing the kids in. We've had a few games where we've been comfortable yet he's chucked on MDM instead of a youngster; hence the carnage at Stamford Bridge when he threw them all in at the same time. It may well have been the old lags that let us down but the kids weren't given any real preparation.
It's not all MP's fault of course. TB & FS don't appear to have been fully supportive, and the players have hardly been pulling up trees; preferring to pull muscles.
It's a mess. But it might well be far less of a mess in about 4 hours. Think I'll toddle along to the game.

totally agree. I said so at the time on here and got pelters for it. if I could see it why couldn't txixi and co?

Strongly worded but bang on

As I said I don't believe we are worlds apart in our analysis. its just where you then take it. Pellegrini isn't an idiot. His 'we play the same' line in my opinion is his way of giving the media short shrift- The squad has reached its end point and needs a complete overhaul, but he hasn't been a failure, a nob, fraud or a c*nt.
