The Battle of Boundary Park - Good (Bad) Friday 1984

Was behind our net in the 'legal' City fans...remember one bloke trying to stop our lot climbing over the divide between the Rochdale Rd & Ford Stand.

As I was where I was & totally safe it was like watching a movie unfold infront of me.

i was in the away end, and was totally safe, blues took over the ground :)

The pissing it down game was August 87.
The ref blew to end the game and the sun came out. Had been warm all morning and I wore shorts and a t shirt
Same for me, I had to walk back to the Midd/Chadd border where I lived at the time steaming as once it stopped raining it went hot again.

I think that was the debut of Imre Banana as well?

We took the ground over never seen anything like it , city fans everywhere , taking oldham seats , ladders, some city fans running on the pitch charging to their end ha!ha!.
Also remember another game there probably the following season, started off a nice sunny day then the heavens opened ,monsoon rain rest of the game , city fans in the open end soaked to the bones walking out of the ground back to their cars & transport like pengiuns!

Same, me and my brother in the open away end watching the wild west scenes with glee. We were only 13/14 at the time and got the bus from Oldham Street in town, and tagged along with some of the older Leve nutters who got off somewhere near Chadderton and marched en masse to the ground, right across the middle of a football match taking place in the park near the stadium.
Seem to remember a copper laid out unconscious on the pitch after being hit by a flying seat from the stand on the right, where the ladder was nicked and used to stage a Pirates of the Caribbean style hostile boarding of the upper tier.
Didn’t Billy McNeill come out to try and calm the City fans down at some stage?

Yeah the game with the monsoon.
I think this was the game i saw one of my favourite goal keeping saves.
Eric Nixon from Andy Richie.
It was a double save.
Richie shot and Nixon dived and saved it, but the ball spun up into the air, so Richie headed it towards an open goal and somehow Nixon got off the floor and tipped it over the bar to safety

Not this particular day but I remember us having it with them outside the old roxy cinema in failsworth/Oldham boundary , that was fun
