The Battle of Boundary Park - Good (Bad) Friday 1984

The Megson game was cold and sunny.
Was that the game when it started a perfect sunny weather, then hailstones to be followed by torrential rain. I was in the stand at the side looking out to the right with City behind the goal nice n dry.. then City singing 'We're City in the rain'. Megson diving header and one(or two) of the best saves I've ever seen from Big Eric. A lot of these games around this time seem to morph into one so might be a bit of things that happened around this time.

That was the one, I'm an FOC so only remember the start of the game, Megson's header and an inflatable fried egg in the City end!

The "battle" was a dry day round about Easter 1984. There was a major downpour in August 87 when we drew 1-1; squelched all the way back to the car. Megson's goal was in a 1-0 win in January 1989 but I don't recall the weather as we went in the main stand.
Correct. I was definitely in the away end for the ladder and downpour matches but in the main stand for the Megson debut.

That video thing is presumably somebody saying "Write a story about the battle of good friday" to AI because it's mainly nonsense mixed with some truth and some bits from other Oldham games. AI wouldn't be able to differentiate on forum threads etc.

I was at those games. The Megson one I ripped the arse out of my jeans scaling a fence to great hilarity amongst my mates. The thunderstorm one I vividly remember a huge fork of lightning right over the Chaddy End (as seen from the City end) which in my memory was right on kick off. I also remember lads trying to leave the ground at half time and they couldn't get out.

Went to all the games mentioned the ladder one was so funny was in the away end remember seeing it going up and blues climbing up fights breaking out, the game with the massive downpour we parked at the sportsman's pub few beers walked up to match in t-shirt shorts got absolutely drenched I remember getting back to the car 4 of us driving back to Warrington down the m62 in our undies the look from the old dears on coaches was piss funny still makes me chuckle what fuckin ace days they where, miss them a lot.

Yes, got absolutely drenched in the away end.
Had a garish pair of green grundies that blinded people through my rain-sodden khaki shorts...

The game that was sunny and then a monsoon was August 1987.
Megson’s debut was a freezing cold January 89 and Dibble was in goal

I’m sure there was football being kicked about in the big wasteland between the turnstile wall and back of the terrace at one of these Oldham games
