The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

I wonder how the new labour government will tackle the BBC?

Corbyn wanted to give them independence from government influence.

A good start will be if you start to see people like Robbie Gibb and Tim Davie find other jobs.
Starmer stated the same, saying he wanted somebody truly independent of any party to run the BBC.

Front page today; Kneussenberg diagnosing Starmer as recovering from a case of impotence.

Inappropriate language for t'Beeb, or what? She is definitely not about to stop playing populist mind games.

A little further down;

With picture of populist right darling Braverman. Who is hardly in the race.

Of all the loathsome people who keep appearing on my telly (it's a list as long as Joe Mercer Way and round the Etihad at least five times, by the way, she's way out front.

Sorry to quote myself but I wanted to note that as so often happens, they've toned the front page down to a more 'BBC' like standard. Same stories. Different presentation.

Instead of the wildly inappropriate

'After The Impotence Of Opposition, Starmer Takes The Reigns Of Power'

LK's story is now titled

'Inside Starmer's Preparations For Power'.

"Tories Mull Next Steps After Election Drubbing"

has become

"Who Could Replace Rishi Sunak As Party Leader?"

Here, they've removed the photo of a keen and conspiratorial looking Braverman talking to others, and replaced it with a tryptch of neat, professional looking pics of Badenoch, Braverman and Patel. Braverman still gets centre spot.

This happens so often. It's like the Guido Fawkes blog editor does the morning layout - then normal editors put it right later on.

I don't see the BBC as in the hands of Tories. I think Tories gave the top job to a person who would promote RW populism, and then applied other pressures to widen and entrench that power base. There's no question in my mind, those with the power base are not in the least bit interested in plugging a traditional Tory Party.

Yeah, but Labour have had 48 hours. They’ve failed.

Have they? I read they’ve guaranteed some jobs. Good work although I suspect that was already in the pipe line given how these things work.

They should expect to be asked about these sorts of things. Starmer said they had been preparing for government and ready to start minute 1…so should be across the important parts of their brief already and looks like they are. Competent and efficient.

I don’t really disagree, but I can’t recall LK asking such questions 2 months ago.

She’s fucking horrible and should be fucked off for being incapable of doing her job.

Wasn’t she busy asking questions on Tory infighting, Rwanda, and the such? Makes a change to get back to politics that matter. She’s probably as happy as anyone.
To be honest, I’m not an avid viewer of hers. From the clips I’ve seen today, she doesn’t sound very happy.

What did you expect her to say? “Well done you, congratulations on coming third? Here’s a sticker for the the fridge. When’s the parade?”

Would be a bit patronising really. If I was Ed Davey I’d be wanting more than coming third personally and wouldn’t want to convey it as anything other than the start of my parties revival rather than pats on the head from journalists and other parties.

Don’t be ridiculous. The Lib Dems had 10 MPs and were an irrelevance. He’s now got them to 71 seats, more Parliamentary time and the chance to build more momentum.
Your expectations seem to be similar like Dayna of Ipswich aren’t in the top 2/3 but survive relegation then they have underperformed. Davey has also increased their vote
