Just stumbled across this

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit/</a>

Watched for a few minutes - amazed that no one's been run over even in that short time. People stand at the crossing waiting for the best time to walk across and have their picture taken - traffic sometimes stops, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes traffic stops but no one walks across - or they walk across REALLY slowly to the obvious annoyance of the motorist.

Years ago my two younger brothers (and our two nephews!) were in a Beatles tribute band - this was about 1981/1982, long before tribute acts were the norm, and they spent a day at Abbey Road, before it was all changed. My youngest brother played the piano on which 'Hey Jude' was recorded and actually played the chords (F Major) the way Macca played them on the record.
They even saw the box of gravel that was used for sound effects on 'Yellow Submarine'.

Naturally they had the obligatory photos taken on the zebra crossing.

That is hilarious. There is someone pissing about on it and incurring wrath virtually every minute. Wouldn't be half as good without sound. I used to live just off Penny Lane and there were often people having their photos taken (usually Japanese) or writing on the street name but it wasn't as bad as that.
