CITY/Aberystwyth Town
Sadly the title may cause those looking for a more Page 3 in The Sun to look away.
Manchester, and its towns sometimes gets mocked and sneered at, even by Mancs. I've been away from the City for almost 3 years, and lived overseas for 8.5 years. Not showing off. Been homesick as hell.
Recently, I walked from Newton Heath to Levenshulme and only had a handful of roads to cross. 2 in the Heath, 1 by Philips Park, 1 on the Fallowfield loopline... was quite amazed, you can still walk so far traffic-free in Manchester.

Also, met a group who explore abandoned buildings, and found a few secret haunts of Manchester.

So, Etihad aside, where's your garden of Eden or place of interest in Mancunia?

I also like walking the Rochdale Canal as well, so many buildings, wildlife etc.
Whenever we walk the towpaths, it's difficult to rid the memory of Gladys Althorpe and her gliding gondolas. By ek.

Actually filmed on the river Irwell rising from the hills of Bacup at irwell springs then flowing 40 miles southward toward Manchester. So techically speaking it's the cream of Bacup : /

Buildings, parks or places?

Building I will say Heaton Hall and its surroundings. One of a few places where rabbits have no care of human presence.

Places to visit I still fancy the Manchester Museum and MOSI occasionally especially when bringing young relatives around.

My jog route, when I was still able to jog then, was always along Fairfield Street and make my way to Etihad, then go out all the way to Ancoats and beyond.

Manchester has its own beauty spots but to each their own I guess.

If you haven't already, check Martin Zero's youtube channel out. He doesn't do abandoned buildings but goes in culverts and disused railway tunnels and mines and stuff like that in Greater Manchester area (and sometimes beyond)

Daisy Nook in Failsworth/Woodhouses.

You can walk from Failsworth to Hartshead Pike and back and there's always something to see. It's a fantastic Country Park on our doorstep.

I've moved near Hartshead Pike and love it.

It's a bit different to Blackley.

I love Town! Always did as a kid going there with mates and fucking about. I love the craziness of it all. I had to go there the other day and I still loved it.
