The Bedroom Tax - The big lie

I'm worried that when they scrap this piece of work, what will they implement as a "compromise"?

For sure they won't repeal it without a plan B.

They scrapped the Poll Tax and we have council tax in it's place, this could be a deliberate manouevre to sneak something else in, as surely these politicians can't be this idiotic surely?

To be perfectly honest, this is an appalling piece of legislation, but for the love of God why aren't the national newspapers making more of the disgrace that is ATOS......free press my fucking arse.

Our press are the national disgrace not the government, as it's their job to make sure that people are appraised of what is going on, and the most important part of all this is to hold the sitting government to account - they care more about putting money into sports reporting than investigative journalism. They should collectively hang their fucking heads in shame.

I must be getting old as I think I'm moving left of centre!

Dont often agree with you mate

But thats a fantastic post

They get away with this and the ATOS fuck up because most of the people who vote for them simply don't care enough to vote for someone else, how many of the disabled and families affected by these policies would be tory supporters? not many probably and they will be outnumbered by those who believe certain sections of society are taking the piss so will vote tory

none of these measures are about saving vast amounts of money they are designed to placate their own support/gain more voters

if shitting on disabled people and punishing people financially without giving them an alternative doesn't get the public up in arms you have to wonder what will?

Sadly as Malg pointed out, the right wing press support the attacks on the poor and the disabled and dont report it fairly. They just sensationilise the debate by reporting about a family with 15 kids who have a camel and live on welfare.

The demonisation of the poorest people in our society is to me nothing short of a national disgrace. How the fuck will taking £14 a week off a person with a spare bedroom ever going to pay off a deficit causd by the greed of wealthy bankers.

Our country has come a long way since th begining of the last century. We established a welfare state, an NHS, Pensions, workers rights and so much more and no they are all being eradicated on the altar of austerity. An austerity that has not affected the richest as they have just become richer.

The good people of this country need to make their voice heard and it shames me that the Labour party are so fucking useless at it. We are i believe a compassionate people, we have never in my lifetime allowed an attack on the poor and disabled like we are seeing now. We as a people always looked after our own and believed in our system. But this Govt and its friends in the press are turning us against each other. The people who back this Govt make millions whilst people with a spare room have their welfare cut by £14 per week. Disabled people who need a spare room for medical equipment have their benefits cuts by £14 per week.

£14 dosent sound much and im in the fortunate place where it does not affect me, but £14 a week is a tenth of my income.

The problem Rasc is that there are plenty of people like me for instance that agree in principle that the welfare system needs an overhaul and this includes disability and housing, the problem is that as a rule labour will do very little as it will upset a lot of their core voters, the tories will bring in policies that are ill thought out because they want to be seen to be tough on shirkers

so come election time i have a choice vote for one lot who will promote apathy or another lot who are incompetent

but the real problem is whoever i vote for it wont make a difference because of the area i live in

Too many idiots trying to jump on a bandwagon of welfare 'reforms.'

I wouldnt call taking money from people who happen to live in the wrong house "welfare reform" i would call it "theft"

They are after anyone that they consider 'easy.'
Particularly the ones that add footage to the papers. That's their 'Raison D'Etre.'

They are all shitbags.

I voted Lib Dem in the last election, the first time ever I didn't vote Labour, 'cos I felt they needed a shake up, and kind of trusted the beardy middle of the roaders to bring a fresh perspective - how fucking wrong was I !!!!!!!
Even without my vote the Lib dems would have got in as it's a safe seat, but even so, I did not mean for the bastards to get in bed with the Tories, I did not see that coming in a million years.

You're right Hilts, there is no real choice, no party for the people, they're all fucking useless, some less than the others of course, but useless nonetheless. (UKIP and the BNP can suck my balls of course if it needs to be said).

i have a certain amount of sympathy for the lib dems tbh, they have probably reined in the tories more than we will ever know
