At that point they didn't have a name. After that performance they got bookings to play at the Russell Street club in Whalley Range and used the name from then.

I'm not that old! I only know, cos I used to work there, and the original stage is still standing.

They moved from Chorlton to West Didsbury (Northen Grove) before they went to Australia.

Strangely enough I was looking at a ticketing website last night for upcoming gigs in Boston (Echo & The Bunnymen in August - oh yes!) And noted Barry Gibb is playing at Boston's equivelant of the MEN Arena in May
Looking at going (not going to get too many chances) and to see him sing 'Massachusetts' in Massachusetts would be fitting.
