I remember the first time we belted out the tune, with no lyrics. It was an away game at Norwich and the Vikings had been on TV the night before.
I don't know who then added the lyrics, but it's definitely OUR song.

We were singing it on the tube on the way to Wembley for the final, and one Wigan fan shouted 'Yer not even't best team in greater manchester'....what can you say to that !!

Didn't the Rags sing a version of it for Schmeichel? To be fair (and I hate giving them credit for anything) I thought they sang theirs first.
Although it wouldn't be the first time they've nicked a song and claimed it as their own. Did anyone see that program a few years ago where that tool who makes up their nursery rhymes claimed he made up the Eric (spit) the king song after hearing Lilly The Pink by Scaffold.
