My issue with HSIN? isn't the actual song itself but the fact it's just overplayed - it's like when James' Sit Down comes on, it gets forwarded. Not only on the radio, but even at Morrissey gigs he keeps playing it.
I'm bored with it.

It's the difference between being a 'fan' of a band or not.....I think most of The Smiths is crap, but love that song, so I call it 'their best'.....I like Van Halen & Alice Cooper, and most people who aren't 'fans' would say Jump & Poison are their 'best songs' but I wouldn't have either in my favourite 20 of either of them....probably as you said, because they are overplayed? I liked them both more when they were 'new' songs ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that 'live' version appeared to be crowd noise over the single version with a few misses on the lip sync.

Two great songs, tough to pick, but Oasis/Noel for me. Argentina crowd helped the cause too both vocally and visually.

Almost tempted by DLBIA - it’s become bigger than Oasis - especially after the Arena Bombing, an anthem that everyone knows. But HSIN just sucks you in with a guitar line that is mesmeric and powers the song - yes Morrissey is a twat, but the rest on the band aren’t and I can’t dismiss their work because of him.

So at time of writing that makes it 36 each.

Great comments by all — I too went with what I always thought was a truly innovative song with HSIN — in many respects it sounds very unlike much of their work — and the fact that I’ve liked it for longer. But DLBIA has that wonderful chorus and my kid absolutely loves it, as do I. So it really came down to brain vs. heart and I voted brain. Would be happy to see either go through.

I never get the lack of love for i started something I couldn't finish. It's my 2nd favorite Smiths song and like the more up tempo vibe and Morrisey actually sings it with a certain amount of humour.
