Not for the first time on this thread, I'll refer to Hendrix's track as the best cover version ever.

Tough one again. Nina’s song is just fabulous. Nobody has done it better. But Jimi’s definitive version of Watchtower has never been equaled either. It’s like people just leave it alone in reverence and no one attempts to do anything like it.

A really really tough call this one. Both incredible songs and performances and worthy of going further.
However, close they may be only AATWT was in Withnail & I so that just tips it in Jimi's favour.

Listen to the Cy Grant original of Feeling Good from the musical (or co-writer Anthony Newley's own version) and tell me Dr Nina wasn't a genius.

A perfectly fine show tune but then elevated to something brilliant.
