What I will say is whilst I'm obviously loving the recent success and good times I would hate us to 'sell out' and become a 'brand' - United are a 'brand' first and foremost,. We are a family club and I hope we stay that way. Oh and by the way I have been a supporter since 1978 so have seen the dark days
only sice 78 1 another glory hunter

I live in the States. My dad has been a City fan since the 90's. I have a '99 Home shirt with Wanchope 23 on the back. Unfortunately I could not watch City or enjoy soccer for that matter until 2008, due to money and broadcast availability. So I got full into City just barely before the money came in. Anyways, massive City fan now. Would never pick any club over City, although when football first became available to me, I might have been a bigger fan of Inter, though that phase is over. Hopefully City becomes more popular, just as long as people know the history and what separates us from them.

Fuck off rag, how's your CHAMP20NS t shirt?

I don't know why they make it so obvious.

This summer we took the kids to Legoland in Denmark, and I counted no less than four City shirts over two days there, excluding our own. Later we went to Germany for a quickie and there we spotted two more. Back in Denmark, Copenhagen and the amusement park "Tivoli" we saw two more. Finally, in Sweden, at Astrid Lindgrens world, we see one more and recently when we went to Gothenburg to see Barca play Manure we saw two more.

My son told me that five of the shirts we saw had "Silva 21" printed on the back. The wizard is a popular man!

It was such a joy to behold each and every one of them. But... the most common football shirt was by far Man United, followed by Barcelona. We came third.

you sure the 2 you kept seeing weren't your own kids? Only asking like

93:21- Rick officially becomes a city fan. It hurt to see my former loves sign 2 players I was hopeful of us signing so i understand what you guy are talking about when you say bad times. What a ride though! If we smarten up and buy Dempsey I may even stick around a few years

hey mcfc liam, if you ever come to my fair city and decide to pick up on baseball (dont bother it's boring and shit) you cant follow my team because weve recently become successful. even if you find a reason, persay they have the similar color to your beloved city, well too bad cuz its mine! all mine! im not sharing! furthermore i dont want to see others delight in the success of a club i love so much...!

sound familiar to a bunch of children. unfortunately not all of us have the crop of the litter to pick from for exciting end to end football and if foreign fans want to invest in your beloved club, cherish them. without us the shiekh wouldve never bothered to invest because he understands that city had a great potential worlwide following, and its unfolding despite your closed eye'd view on the world. united bandwagon fans typically gloat as if it were their own work that gave them trophies, while most 'bandwagon' city fans will understand the pain. i may of only been a fan since 08 but i was their when that ginger fuck scored a header against us in way extra time. not to mention owens goal. ive experienced pain for city albeit not nearly to the degree of you respectable hardcore blues, but still i feel i was there to some degree in spirit. ...rant over, sorry.

-- Tue Aug 21, 2012 6:19 am --

I wish these threads would stop fucking popping up every month. I'm blue, I'll stay blue, I'm from America, its really none of your business either way.

this; does it really matter where were from if were all tuning it at the same time every week to support the club we love?

We are not Stockport County but we are Manchester City Football Club and the vast majority of our fanbase has been through the bad times which subsequently has moulded us into what we are.

I despise all these people that have no connection with our club and have just jumped on to a very large bandwagon, would these cretins be wearing the latest city shirt if we were mid table ? would they fuck, remember we have risen very fast in the last few years but we can easily return to mid table mediocrity, will these fuckers be buying shirts then ?.

What a blinkered view, Ive been a blue for over 40 years and without the money from our owners we would continue to be a yoyo team, in 40 years my biggest and best memory of being a blue is gillingham 2nd div play off victory with john stapleton sat behind me.

Not the best of memories considering what we have achieved in just a few years under the Sheikh.

If we want to continue the rise and the standard of players that are now gracing our hollowed turf then the fan base needs to be worldwide.

I was in the Mad Hatters NY at christmas and the place was bouncing with blues, prior to being prem champs and after May 13th I spent my 8th year visting orlando and for the first time ever I saw City shirts actually sold in the sports shops, I personally thought it was fantastic.

I then went on a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords and they were selling our beloved shirt on the ship, never ever have i seen this.

Like it or lump it success breeds hunters but its exactly what is required to dominate and grow.
I hate the rags with a passion and most of their loyal fan base hate the glory hunters but without them they would be nothing.... infact with them there nothing but im sure you get the point.

The Sheikh isnt going to bank roll us for ever, he is going to want a return at some point and by incresed fan base comes increased revenue.

Im a happy blue and will be so long as we reign, however im in it for life not just the silverwear, but i dont dis a blue either seasoned or new.

I think Liam's point is that just because he went to a baseball game in your city he wouldn't suddenly decide to 'support' them.

Just saying like...
