the brave few off to Monaco

Just an update re alcohol ban on match day, I emailed the hotel I am staying in in Monaco on Wednesday night, I assumed the restrictions would not apply to hotel residents, here is reply I got from hotel manager.
'Dear Sir,
This law is applied in all Monaco, is forgiten to sell alcohol that day.
Kind Regards
Dulce (Hotel Manager).

I assume he means forbidden, not the reply I was expecting - looks like it's a day / night over border in France then back to Monaco to sleep.

It would be good to see a map with genuine borders, because Google Maps would suggest that the Marriott is technically in France, and therefore presumably not obliged to adhere to the alcohol ban. My hotel is in a similar area.

I imagine you could wander into a bar in the Cap d'Ail area which is legitimately in France and there would be f*** all they could do to stop them selling booze there.

If all else fails, find a Carrefour on the way and stock up. I'm intending to spend the afternoon of the game on my balcony overlooking the marina, drinking a few tinnies.

Travel down to Gatwick tonight
Flight out to Milan tomorrow morning
15:10 train to Nice
On the scoops by 8pm
That'll do nicely..

PS I have a couple of spares (in the Monaco end) not cancelled as bought from a French address
Un-named and non-reserved seating

PM me if anyone needs 'em.

Sounds great ? Why not try Waynettes down the Rue FFS.

Try some bloody kulture.

The "FFS" and tone of your reply suggests a certain exasperation, but spelling culture with a "k" suggests you must be actually joking?

Either way, a bloke asked a question about pubs/bars and I simply answered him. I didn't realise he was asking where he could get a tasty Daube Provencale or a cheeky Bouillabaisse..

.. my bad.

Been down to market area today Irish bar(akachor) opens at 5 pm to 2.30 am. Happy hour till 9.00 . around 5.50 euros a pint after 9.00. .bar next door (blast ) same price. Club around the corner 10.00 euros a pint. 80.00 euros for a private dance. For anyone with money to burn . Irish bar got a deal on shot's. Lots of police on the streets last night . Some sort of tour de France. Team sky bus was there. Had to be given the body scan to enter the streets near the finish line... went to see if we could get some drugs from some team bus. Said they'd none left never mine.... .

Marriot is in France though only a few hundred yards from ground and was serving alcohol v Spurs. See you in there.
