The breakers yard.

Sailed on the Pride of Burgundy many times along with sister ships Dover / Kent when I used to take freight onto mainland Europe , unfortunately not many British firms crossing now since the east european transport firms came in . Always a cracking breakfast on board

I worked on them all, the freight drivers got a good deal onboard. Stena was better. £1.95 for breakfast and £3.95 for lunch/dinner. Seven hot choices, salad section, four sweets and it was self service so they could eat as much as they liked. They also got a 25% discount ticket off duty free too!

Some amusing comments but those who know know. Ships weren't just a workplace they were a second home as many of us lived onboard. Indeed we probably saw our "Ship family" more than our real families.

The Spirit of Great Britain and France certainly were a massive improvement , the east europeans certainly got their monies worth lol

I worked on the Britain. I was on the Pride of Dover when she came out new, also the Stena Fantasia. I was on Stena then as P&O sacked me on the seaman's strike in 1988. Both companies then merged years later and inadvertently I ended up working for P&O again, bloody bizarre.
